The most wonderful time of the night, every night, right now. Here it is, the nightly P4K thread. Time to get comfy.
>P4K Collection Rar (Over 300 deleted reviews, pics of every staff member, very badly needs to be updated)

>Tonight's Top Stories
-This thread stands with Kesha eternally
-How was your weekend?
-I'd pay for a coffee table book of Vince Staples' Yelp reviews http://pitchfork.com/news/64272-vince-staples-yelp-reviews-kentucky-chicken-restaurant/
-This thread hypes and supports DIIV, Explosions in the Sky, Charli XCX, The Field, Rob Crow, Tim Hecker, Islands, and Wussy.
>Tim Hecker
Fuck, leaks need to stop messing with my perception of time. I thought we were way past Love Streams' album cycle.
unrelated, but The Range's latest album leaked, and i didn't see a mega link for it in the archive, so if anyone's interested in giving it a listen:

Daily reminder that +@ was robbed
Can't wait for Mark Kozelek to write a song about Bowie digging Sun Kil Moon

It doesn't come out until April 8th. So half the people who care probably already have.
>all these safe BTMs
>all this corporate shilling
Meanwhile at tinymixtapes...
they continue to review music out of love, passion and they do it all with so much conviction; with no emphasis placed on advertisements or big business shilling.
Why /mu/ keeps shooting them down is beyond me...
>>63464812
I'll start visiting TMT if they have any reviewer as cute CUTE as Zoe Camp
No? They don't? oh okay.
>>63464812
>Meanwhile at tinymixtapes
it's MEANWHILE, AT BIZARRO PITCHFORK...
or how ever that one trip here does it. he's a cool guy. posts TMT reviews and doesn't afraid of anything
>>63464866
cute
>>63463969
>what's everybody listening to tonight?
right now, the most perfect 11 and a half minutes of rock music ever recorded
>>63463752
I try not to listen to leaks that come out months ahead of time. It just seems disrespectful to the artist. If you're gonna steal their album, you should probably at least wait until it comes out.
And anyway, I write a music blog, so I end up procrastinating when it comes to leaks anyway. I don't like to think too much about an album before I write about it.
>>63463940
I listened to Nonfiction this afternoon and it was just kind of...okay? Kind of nondescript, not really all that interesting. Not experimental, not poppy - it's like he's MOR electronica.
And speaking of Bowie (>>63464253), I'm watching The Man Who Fell to Earth, so I'll be in and out.
I tried to get into the Field, I just deleted them from my music player.
I can't do it.

You two took the words right out of my mouth! 2-NITE:
First on deck is a review of Santigold's "99 Cents" by Embling. I thought it was pretty good, but he doesn't! He also gives this sucker a really nice lede:
>"I think it’s safe to say that the majority of Americans enjoy eating meat, but barely anyone wants to think about how it’s made."
styles: Pure Pop for Now People
others: Twin Shadow, Karen O, Rostam Batmanglij, Res

>>63465069
What did you try listening to?
>>63465108
From here we go sublima
>>63465096
ALSO 2-NITE:
Will "Tame Impala is the Instagram of Rock Bands" Neibergall gives 4/5 orbs to a new record from the L.A. Club Resource label, "Poison" by Innsyter. He puts Actress and Container in "others," but I'm getting a kind of lo-fi outrun vibe from the previewed track. Check it out for yourself.
styles: techno, hiss
others: Actress, Container, Delroy Edwards, Eric Copeland

This review is on point! TMT bringing the hammer dowwwwwn.
>>63465116
What didn't you like about it?
>>63465211
I can tell you're being a bit ironic but I like your enthusiasm! And your dubs.
just finished watching a brighter summer day Blu Ray. great movie! I think I'll watch abraham's valley tomorrow
Is Pitchfork going to review the new Drones album? They completely ignored I See Seaweed

>>63465507
>Boris with Merzbow 5.7 by Grayson Haver Currin
oh shit here we go
>>63465508
?
I didn't know Gwen Stefani is going JUST now
>>63465507
Who the fuck are all these new people?
Mapes? Haver currin? St Michel? Are those even real names?
>>63465539
well, the Boris/Merzbow was kinda of a letdown
and I've even played the 2 discs simultaneously; Merzbow's stuff just didn't make any sense.
>>63465521
>>63465521
i have no idea. she's way past her prime.
>>63465563
Reviewers for hire from Twitter. P4K is donezo.
>>63465521
Because Conde Nast.
I haven't listened but it seems like the Boris/Merzbow collab would've worked better if it hadn't been literally just Merzbow's harsh noise played against old Boris tunes. Has anyone listened? Is it like, new versions? Reworks? Is it worth my time?
Anyway that Trekkie Trax compilation looks interesting.
>>63465563
>Haver currin
he's been there for some time now, took over from Stousy as the metal guy. Stousy still there, but i guess he's been too busy being an editor to write
>>63465607
>Implying they didn't review her other two albums which are right at the bottom of the fucking review
Also, check out how catty the L.A.M.B. review is

i'm remember reading his reviews and hating them. took up the mantle of Worst P4K Writer when DiCrescenzo left
>>63465568
Why does every other professional reviewer have to mention the Merzcar as if it's relevant to anything. It was joke a label owner posted on the internet 20 years ago, nothing to do with Merzbow himself.
>>63465707
http://pitchfork.com/staff/nick-sylvester/albumreviews/?page=1
Take a tour! From what I've seen he spends every review trying to be funny/snotty
>>63465707
His pan of that DFA1979 remix album is great, though.
http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/2588-romance-bloody-romance/
>tfw p4k will never do entertaining pans ever again
Honestly, that's part of the reason they blew up in the early 00s.
>>63465768
''Whoever's handling the craziest Wu-Tang motherfucker's estate has wasted no time in getting out this posthumous "official mixtape," a teaser for his Rocafella finale, due later this yea.
In the rap family portrait, Ol' Dirty Bastard was the Downsy 30-year-old cousin with his pants pulled down. Nobody asked him to do this obviously, and though the scene was gross, nobody protested either. Everybody just laughed-- the only option, really. ODB had so successfully blurred the line between playing the fool and actually being retarded, nobody would dare criticize him for fear of seeming pointlessly cruel or, worse, painfully out of the loop. ODB was better than a fool though: Not only did he say and do what others didn't, but where fools get away with their foolishness, ODB fell victim to his own heedlessness at every turn. He lived the life-- cash money, bitches, crack, fast cars, etc.-- but unlike others, ODB always suffered the consequences: poverty, child support, crippling addiction, prison, and traffic violations. ODB was simultaneously everything and nothing most MCs want to be.''
>>63465707
Except DiCrescenzo was secretly the BEST writer.
Because he was the best at being "so bad it's good."
