Rock definitely exists. Just not derivative butt rock like acdc. Rock, in its literal form has been dead since 90s I'd say. From then it's been blended genres. And that's still going strong, plenty of bands are making guitar oriented music still. Especially on a local level too, I've been in a 'rock' band for a few years and have played with more bands than I can remember. All over the country there are independent rock bands. But in my case, we don't just play rock, as I said we blend stuff. Usually shoegaze, emo, indie and post rock
