I just listened to two songs by Danzig: 'Mother', and 'How the Gods Kill'.

Danzig is fine. You're venturing farther from mainstream music, but he was still a very popular act.
Try some of Danzig Era Misfits if you havent. Then just listen to albums you see on charts here.
Don't look for chances to disavow your musical preferences- look for new experiences that may broaden your horizons.

You are a pleb if you care about being a pleb. Develop your taste on your own, but do get inspirations from /mu/ if you like.
You can work your way through the essentials, which are usually very solid and accessible albums from a whole bunch of genres and are considered, well, essential for those genres so might as well get into them, or you could head to the /daily/ thread, where people often discuss lesser known albums and talk about other things than the rest of the board for a change.
It's teeming with tripfags, but they usually behave.
Ghost BC, Dream Theater and Rush are some good entry level bands.
