IMO Built to Spill is the embodiment of the 90's sound, parts math rock, parts indie rock, parts emo, one of the most talented bands with a truly unique style they made their own. The bass playing alone in Keep it Like a Secret always makes me shit myself. That being said, I believe they're fairly talked about in /mu/

I usually don't like indie rock in general, but I found this and Perfect really enjoyable. Temporarily Blind has the most adorable guitar riff half way in where it's just the guitar and drums isolated. Carry the Zero and Broken Chairs are obviously awesome as well; the latter having a surprisingly heavy stoner-ish jam band type ending.
These guys were my favorite a couple years ago. Fug.
