There are 2 tripfags who cosntantly circlejerk this band

I love them too, have you heard their other albums?
>>
>>63426866
I have not. I've listened to Night every day this week, will definitely check out all their albums eventually.
>>
>>63426866
>>63426896
Also I was hesitant to check them out because of said tripfags, but they really sound like a perfect mix of Radiohead, Talk Talk and Pink Floyd

Its not like I'm calling it trash, its just their worst album.

It feels like a poorly balanced album. The title track(s) are the weakest songs on the album and are some of the weakest songs in their entire discography imo. I can't really pinpoint what I dislike about them. Not enough substance or something. They just don't sit right with me. The Walk I and II just seem so superior.

The live versions of them are great though.

Which do you think is their worst album? Bravo is literally the only possible contender and its a standard light prog/alt rock deal.

Been meaning to check out that band, along with Coheed and Cambria, any flowcharts for them?

Also been listening to this alot recently, I dont know how I slept on it so long because its great.

There's a flowchart for Anathema on /mu/ wiki that I made

Coheed isn't similar to Anathema at all and I don't like them very much

>>63430065
from my research anathema's best album is that one live one with simple mistake on it, dont recall the name. the rest is pretty inconsistent and mediocre. coheed and cambria is barely prog from what i've heard.
>>63430100
march of ghosts > molok = missa atropos > night = demon = tick tock = firebird = when earth lets go > bravo (but ghost is still one of their best single songs)

>>

Mike Oldfield? Start with either Tubular Bells or Ommadawn, and if you liked Ommadawn try Amarok.

I haven't really given his discog a good listen beyond those 3 albums and Man on the Rocks (which is just poppy rock), so I cant give that great of a recc beyond that.

RYM says so. I'll defer to RYM again:

That Guapo album's good too. Maybe more "brutal" than Happy Family.

It all sounds like Zorn / Zappa to me.

Why does prog always have cheesy cover art? I can tell something is prog just by the cover 9/10 times.
>>
>>63434962
But they did this year. Get your head out of your ass and give it more than one listen.
Don't fall for the meme.
It grows on you with every listen. Its easily the best since 6 degrees.
>>
>>63435102
Same, senpai. Prog album art always catches my eye. You can tell almost instantly 90% of the time.

How are these:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2VrK1IpauA
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ddtGKtoYtg
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0yhFSTAyHWs
Any cringier than these:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h9v4DTc8tts&list=PLN-OKmjqfXTKwshS8Utclbf79QzuWK2eg&index=8
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MmssYEmzIHU

Scenes is extremely cringey, but it is accessible. Astonishing is not accessible. The cheese is frontloaded and there is no apparent metal for the metalfags to latch onto. There are no hooks for their primary audience.
It is an album made for progfags, not metalfags.

This isn't a metal thread. It is a prog thread and you guys should actually give the album a listen before you hop on the meme bandwagon. It is just as good as Scenes.
>>
>>63437554

it has the added layer of cringe from trying to tell a story

Those aren't the full albums by the way, they're missing the longer-than-10-minutes extended jams.

If you want to listen to those, you can buy the album or get it off RuTracker.

that cover tho, shit looks like the cover to some shitty self published sci fi novel
