Their post-LP5 stuff seems cool but I rarely have an urge to listen to it. Feels more like music to admire than to enjoy. What makes LP5 great is how it lies somewhere in between, like a bridge between the melodic sensibilities of their early work and their really discordant structures that came later.

Yeah, "seeing" them live was definitely an experience that I'll never forget. Imo it could have been a little better if the crowd was a more enthusiastic - I love to dance and was a bit bummed that more people weren't going at it but w/e. At least the dudes in my general area were cool.
Really fun night overall and getting to chat with them for a bit was the cherry on top, though I can't really rem what I said to them lol. Prob something stupid, but y'know.

it's the complete opposite really. The earlier albums are all way more mechanical but for some reason people think that sounds more organic than the stuff they do now. I don't get it. Back at the start they were just programming machines and making tracks basically on a grid, now they just sit down at a program they made and generate stuff that has all kinds of dynamic shifts and shit in real time. it's way more organic now than at the start. The problem is people are too robotic to handle it when music isn't locked to an obvious grid.
