I've seen metal described as being stripped of black influences, so there's that. It tends to be very rigid sounding and black people like wobbly things.

A lot of metal styles focus around heritage and I suppose african heritage tends to favor different genres.

Top40 in my country hasn't anything to do with the top40 in the US. It might have some artists in common, but it has a lot of other random pop music. Hip Hop i.e. isn't big here, it's only an underground movement, while in the US hip hop is mainstream as fuck.

No, I'm actually from Austria, I'm referring to German speaking countries. My personal experiences don't really extend to Spain, but I know that the French and the Italians usually listen to music in their own language. If you turn on the radio there, you will rarely hear and English track.
