Disintegration was boring to me, I fell asleep halfway through the record. I need someone to tell me why the hell this constantly gets rated as one of their best records because it doesn't feel like it.

Because its easy as fuck to do something similar.
You can even do a sound bit with 7000 samples (0.15 seconds) where none of them is 0, then one of the samples is changed to 0 (silence) and the entire thing is played again, and another sample of this second part is changed to 0 and the entire thing is played again and this goes on.
With this specific amount of samples, you have a 74 minutes song.
