I'm just cataloging my music, I don't hold any pretentions about being able to accurately rate something on a 10 point scale. also my feelings on an album are subject to change so why put a significant amount of effort into assigning an arbitrary score? am I being paid to do this? it seems like a self-aggrandizing waste of time. I would rather just use this website to keep track of my listens and for the recommendation feature

The more you divide your rating system the less clear and useful it becomes. There is no reason to use more than 5 points.

The opposite is true for me actually. I very much know what I like and what I dislike without using a site like RYM, but the ratings help me looking back at things and filter out the gems when I want to relisten to something a few years later.

Well, basically, when I'm listening to something the first time I'm just wondering if I like it or not. Then after listening to something some extra arbitrary number of times I put it on my scale according to how much I like it. If it falls somewhere between avg. (2.5) and the worst (0.5) then I'm probably not gonna give the whole thing another spin. If it's above a 2.5 I just listen for enjoyment at that point, and if it at some time hits me that I'm enjoying it more or less than I did earlier then I'll bump it up or down, usually by only a .5. It really doesn't happen too often so I doubt I spend too much extra time thinking about a score, at least relative to how much I listen to the music.
I'm approaching my 300th rated album and want some suggestions on what it should be. I'd prefer if it was something that I SHOULD have listened to by now.

"How this album works:
-The album has one song only and this song start with a silent part that is almost 1 second long.
-Then a tone start to play. This tone has an exact volume, frequency and waveform the entire time.
-At 5 minutes the tone stop playing and a new tone start to play, this new tone is the same old tone with a with increased volume (just a little higher volume). This happens without any silence part between the two tones.
-At 30 minutes a new tone comes in, and start to play with the other tone that is playing. This tone has the same frequency, amplitude and waveform the entire time. They continue to play without changing their own volumes, frequencies and waveforms.
-At 55 minutes the second tone leaves while the first one continue to play.
-At 60 minutes there is a fade out and the song ends.

People tend to avoid doing stuff they find unpleasurable, like if you're watching a really bad show or something, you don't feel the desire to get to the end because it's not engaging enough. So you stop it.
On the other hand, people with autism tend to do stuff in methodical ways, that's why the process of finishing an album even if they don't like it would seem completely normal.
