dunno their names cause, like i said, they're irrelevant.
That makes me think, how lucky those guys were.
Like, I could be rythm guitarist for Weezer, no problem. He has no creative responsibility whatsoever, just plays power chords on concerts, and that's it.
>>
>>63344564
Most bassists don't have any creativity or talent. They just strum a few chords over the same time signature. You could take them out of a band and noone would even notice.

That's almost purely because of a falloff on Billy's part. I agree James was more important than people give him credit for, and I like a lot of his songs, but Darcy didn't write her own parts and iha wasn't a huge part of writing most of the music either.

>>63344583
I play in a garage rock band (just for fun) and our bass player is hands down the most talented member. Melodic bass players that know when to pick their moments are indeed a rare find, but when you hear them you wonder how you ever did without. As a guitar player, I don't really understand the logic either, what are you implying? That 4 strings are "easier" than 6? A bass part fills are entirely different role and is played different, trying to accomplish different things. A good bass part is literally vital to any song.
>>
>>63347141

>>
>>63347852
I'm a huge fan of the bass guitar and have a dear place in my heart for Nirvana, but Krist's bass parts are so incredibly boring that literally anyone who plays bass could have done what he did. >>63348355 Kurt wrote them as simply as possibly so Krist could keep up.

I mean, "Come as You Are" is a staple bassline, but it's also just the same line as the guitar part, which is obviously 100% Kurt Cobain. I honestly think Nirvana could have been even better with a truly gifted bass player at the helm, a lot of their stuff is really starting to sound dated. I get that they wanted a clean slate and keep everything minimalistic for the most part, but there was room for sooo much more in their songs.
>>
