Why did grunge shoegaze never become a thing? It's the logical conclusion to the two alt scenes of the early 90s
>>
>>63331400
you just gave me a great idea, anon
>>
it will, this generation is devoid of any original ideas, they only know how to combine old shit
>>
>>63331443

please don't
>>
Isn't shoegaze just like slightly more psychedelic grunge anyway?
>>
>>63331471
>implying every other genre is not a combination of other genres

>>63331499
it's all in the execution, anon, if it all fails I'll be sure to destroy all the evidence

To clarify, shoegaze is basically grunge with more reverb and softer vocals.
>>
>>63331666
equalize that shit, add harsher vocals and keep the reverb.
>>
>>63331691
Then you just get Smashing Pumpkins or any of the heavier shoegaze bands.
>>

well, since the '90s had a lot of alt scenes, and shoegaze was a REALLY UNDERGROUND one, i think it's not really logical. Also, grunge main scene belongs to USA and shoegaze main scene is from the UK.

Even though there were Swervedriver and Starflyer 59 in the 90s lol

but of course, let's all forget shoegaze had a lot of great bands besides MBV!

You guys have heard anything besides Loveless?

Lol, what about Desert Rock and Britpop?
>>

My favourite shoegaze album is Souvlaki. I've heard Ride and thought they were shit. Other than that I've listened to Curve, Lush and some modern stuff like No Joy, Whirr and Nothing which I guess is a little closer to grunge. Don't see how that would invalidate my point, though, as grunge and shoegaze are fairly loosely defined genres that say more about guitar tone than anything else.

They're both quite closely related to grunge and shoegaze, respectively.
>>
Isn't that exactly what Silversun Pickups are?
>>
What about Madchester?
