lovely beats, clean mixes, your drums in particular sound great. loved crows of bahji great sampling in there probably my favourite. nice variation possibly felt it was a little piano heavy for the first half you did switch up the sounds towards the end which was great but i maybe would have done the track-listing slightly differently to break those first piano beats up a bit, very minor detail tho and overall great work! panning on the last trck is cool as hell too.would definitely recc!

for someone starting out this aint bad at all homie! for one, really nice sample choice which is half the battle when making beats, if you dont have a natural ear for what makes a good sample your pretty much screwed till you learn/develop your ear/taste. it was nicely flipped and the drums were simple yet effective, dont want to comment too much on the mix coz im at my parents house atm and dont have my speakers etc. just my little sisters laptop lol but balance wise it didnt sound too crazy to me. really solid start t b h keep it up!

I actually think my setup is pretty horrible haha.
I've got a cheap Presonus Audiobox interface that I record all instruments though. Run it all through Ableton. I've got Fender Jaguar Bass, an electric-acoustic guitar, and piano back home which I occasionally sample on songs like Plastic. I also have a microkorg, which is what I made the majority of Plasic EP with.
A lot of my ambient sounds are weird samples. On the song Infinite the drone is just a heavily processed recording of my ceiling fan. A lot of the sounds on Today's Weather are processed bass recordings. Synaptic is made of samples from another ambient song I made with guitar and piano. I then went through and constructed the song pretty much note by note and then sequenced it through my microkorg for the later half of the song.
So I've got really simple and relatively cheap gear, I just try to use it creatively.

I feel this hard, and I think so would a lot of people in this thread. That really lends itself to the notion of artistic ingenuity though, which is super rad. A lot of my rhythm section in songs is based on processed guitar sounds to support the actual on-paper aspects of what's going on. I guess I just felt like butting in to your convo, haha. Kudos for the dope ideas though, I love hearing how people achieve their sounds.

I really think creativity is the most important part of music. I've had friends who saved money for months just to buy a guitar in hopes of getting "that sound" but at the end of the day they just needed to practice more with what they already had.

Pretty much what I had to discover for myself. I had been stumbling around in terms of production for years, telling myself it was the gear I had. Eventually I got pissed off enough to finally learn how to attentively produce my music. Because I've always had confidence in my writing; I'm damn good at it, and at some point, you just get pissed off enough that you'll do anything to do your music justice.
I think, honestly, as pretentious as this may sound, it's a culture of need that drives us to feel as if we're empty without some shiny new piece of equipment. In music and in life in general. When we can finally just be grateful and make the best of what we have, that's when we really start to shine. Just my thoughts, anyway.
