People who denounce Les Rallizes Dénudés as a Velvet Underground rip-off are seriously misguided.
There's literally only one TVU album that sounds anything like LRD and it's because the microphone was literally taped to Lou's amp.
Compared to '77 Live Sister Ray sounds tamer than a Bob Dylan ditty.

I wouldn't call them a rip-off or derivative of TVU but it's not too far out to say there's an influence. Take another listen to The Gift and focus on the rythm. Also the guitar work in on the last two songs on that album has a certain similarity to the reckless, reeling, almost insouciant style Mizutani sometimes used. The noisy sound in general may also have been influential. That said, LRD were far more radical and inventive than TVU. I think they were also maybe influenced by fellow Japanese band Jacks.
