Okay so ''the band'' is me and this guy who sings and can play like 4 chords on the guitar.

I am just scraping above beginner level at guitar. I'm a rythym player and not a good one. I'll be playing acoustic

Does anyone have any suggestions for what we can play? Preferably an acoustic guitar based song but if it it's on something else but can be transcribed to sound decent on the guitar I'm game

We need to ''go out of our comfort zone'' we've been told. All this means is that we shouldn't play any modern pop songs. We don't have to be too experimental, but I was thinking of some folk stuff or alt rock

pls help

Maybe something approachable but not very popular.

Start with Darude Sandstorm to win the crowd over. Then after that, It Aint Me, start playing. Then the rest should be easy-peasy. Wait, this gig is your autistic friends birthday party, right? Cause it will defnitely work there. If it aint, you may need to improvize a bit.

There's plenty of simple indie rock songs you could do. Neutral Milk Hotel, Modest Mouse, etc. all have piss easy songs that you could learn real quick and aren't played on the radio all the time.

As someone who is about the same level at guitar, maybe slightly lower, Common People by Pulp is literally the three easiest chords and a song that people may enjoy seeing. Depending on the crowd, if they know the song it's a proper singalong so might go down well.

Best of luck to you man. I just recently performed drums live for the first time and it was proper nerve wracking. Can't say I've experienced a much happier feeling before though than having people clap for your performance.
