I thought that ambient/drone music needed a flowchart in the same vein as the huge shoegaze charts. I didn't want to miss anything though, so first I want to gather up all the essential ambient albums that /mu/ thinks need to be on a flowchart. I want there to be sections of genres like dark ambient and drone.
In this thread, post an image of an album you would like to see on the chart, as well as any way it could relate to an album that has already been posted. Supply a basic genre descriptor and a youtube link if possible.

You can be a poor sport if you want.
Hecker's Ravedeath, Virgins, and Love Streams are all /mu/ approved
Let's keep it up.
Very essential
Global Communication - 76:14
Cluster & Eno - ST
Loscil - Plume
Put the other two Eno Ambient albums also

What genre is the magnificent void and 76:14?
brb in like 5 minutes btw
>>63252425
But that already exists though. Well not a flowchart but good enough.
>>63252425
This is my favorite ambient album
>>63252881
I'm gonna post all of the ambient-related charts I have
>>63252919
I have a weekly ambient/drone/noise show at my university radio and people have been calling in to tell me they dig it

This doesn't help. We need in depth descriptions of single albums and how they relate to stuff that's already been put on the list.
>>63252962
So we just make another essentials chart despite already having one?
>>63253024
Essentials charts are boring.
Just keep in mind that the only reason I've been adding any of you people's suggestions is that I've already heard them and know where they would go on the flowchart. GENRES/YOUTUBE LINKS ARE IMPORTANT

I would say 76:14 is house/techno influenced ambient. I would also like to add:
Harmonia - Musik Von
Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works 1
Tangerine Dream - Phaedra and Rubycon

This is guitar based loops that begin almost nightmarish, but end with a bright and colorful piece

I know SAW I is ambient techno and phaedra is new age progressive electronic, what is Musik Von like?
Also is 76:14 similar to SAW I?
this isn't a flowchart? it's just a normal chart.
That said:
Wilting Sun - Wilting Sun
>>63253214
This isn't the final chart. It's the albums that will be on the final charts.
Also youtube links bitch.
>>63253193
Musik Von is similar to Phaedra, but a less spacey. At times 76:14 is similar to SAW 1, but it's slower.

You're the most helpful person in this thread.

I've decided I'm just gonna do the research myself. See you on the other side of a couple months.
