If you liked the music in the film, you ought to try Clifford Brown and Max Roach's work together. Their album Study in Brown is probably my favourite, and as good a starting point as any.

Herbie Hancock Empyrean Isles and Maiden Voyage are good entry points.
Mingus Ah Um and Blues & Roots should be easy to get into.
Jazz in Silhouette has some easy stuff on it too.
