Listen to Amnesiac if you like Kid A. Recorded at the same time. IMO, the songs on Amnesiac are better than those on Kid A, but Kid A is the superior album.

HTTT is my favorite for a number of reasons. One, it has a unique sense of atmosphere all its own that feels very autumnal compared to the other albums and I love that sort of vibe. Two, while it sort of acts as a continuation of Amnesiac's blend of rock and electronic elements the album ends up feeling like it touches base with the whole of Radiohead's sound - even songs like 2 + 2 = 5 and There There have a Britpop feel to them, albeit one that's miles past what they were doing on their first two albums. Three, and this is pretty subjective but I think it's their darkest album to date. The album is basically 56 minutes of natural disasters and dystopian oppression, with the only real glimmer of hope found in Sail To The Moon's musings about hope for a better future. Call me weird but I like dreary as fuck music and moreso than any of their albums, even Amnesiac, HTTT scratches that itch for me.

This is a good take on HTTT. I love the second of this album. It feels like the whole thing does a hard take-off and hits god-mode after Go To Sleep.
The streak of songs from Where I End And You Begin through A Punch Up At A Wedding is immortal.

I need to listen to HTTT again. For me I always thought the first 3 songs were fantastic, and the last 4, but I thought the middle stretch was kind of weak.
I think it's harder to listen to the album all the way through compared to their other ones, because, sonically it's varied and doesn't flow particularly well. I think that, when listening to the album, that caused me to kind of lose attention during the middle.
I'll give it another listen or two, with more thought this time.

The thing with HTTT, and the reason I think it's as divisive as it is, is because it can be a herculean listen if you aren't feeling its mood. Thom himself admitted that he thought the album was a few songs too long and broke the album's flow because of it. For me, I still dig the album song for song despite it easily having the weakest tracklisting order, but I get where criticisms of it do stem from nonetheless.
