There was a very brief time in the late 90's where we got Cherry Poppin' Daddies and Squirrel Nut Zippers and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy but they faded as fast as they came.
the only inspired part about this was the radio static. using instruments from the 30s means nothing because almost all of those instruments are still being produced today. it's all gimmick with no payoff.

it would almost be interesting if they only used damaged instruments actually made in the 1930s, but even then covering Blue Monday is completely meaningless. if you have a concept like this at least try to compose or cover a song that matches, not just a random pop song.
