His Gravity Falls song was nice but I'm not very interested in anything else he's done.
I'll start taking him seriously when he stops doing music that is mostly novelty. Although, for what it's worth, I suppose his novelty stuff is decent at being that.

here. I haven't listened to most of his stuff since his foreverpandering days, but going down his list of videos now:
>Three songs about anime
>A song about a porn comic, and one about zone archive
>A song about Tharja, or possibly yanderes in general
>Dark Souls, Pokemon, etc...
This is what I was talking about when I mentioned novelty. I'm guessing these songs don't attempt to establish anything by themselves. His songwriting might be alright, but it still seems to come down to "how can I best insert a phrase about this topic that other people will instantly recognize", or in other words, a meme (which is really funny when you remember that video he did about reddit as foreverpandering). This tends to happen with derivative works such as this, since he's either doing this all for fun (and thus shouldn't want to be taken seriously) or trying to appeal to people who are fans of other things. In addition, these songs will basically be "obsoleted" as long as these series/franchises lose relevance. In that sense, I'd say Burgz and I Wish There Were Still Dinosaurs are probably valid, and possibly some others, which doesn't leave him with much.
Since you mentioned Lemon Demon, I'll use Spirit Phone as an example for comparison:

>A song about a man being sucked into an arcade cabinet

These premises are completely ridiculous, but they're original and derivative only to concepts that are essentially grounded in reality.
Would I take Ken Ashcorp seriously if he put out an album of original work? Sure, why not. Until then, his stuff will always come off to me as "just for fun" and I think that's fine. Sorry for the wall of text.
