Basically stuff in this vein. If you like Die Nerven you should check out the surrounding Stuttgarter scene with bands like Karies or Human Abfall. The following comp is a good starting point.

Labels which regularly pump out good indie music would be This Charming Man Records (who hosted the Nerven for their debut) or Staatsakt. TCM is more punk-oriented while Staatsakt does a lot of weird/proto pop. See artists like Rocko Schamoni (or Studio Braun in general), A Tribe Called Knarf, Die Goldenen Zitronen, etc..
And if you wanna listen to recent stuff, go for Isolation Berlin. Their debut LP is the best German album of 16 (plus the recently released single comp. is even better). Easily an Aoty contender, regardless of language.
german is a horrible language to sing in. it just sounds like shit, and i'm a native speaker. also most bands that have german vocals suck. you're much better listening to audiobooks or something.
