I want to get into producing music. Where do I start? Is FL Studio any good?
What kind of music? Choice depends in style I would say.

Seconding this. Should I watch YouTube tutorials made by Indians? Or is there some great ebook? Music Production 101? I have zero experience in music, I don't play any instrument.

Ableton Live, no FL crap.
Get some good sample, some plugin and try something out.
You can find everything you need on proaudiozone(.)eu
Point Black makes some good tutorials on youtube, check them out
I used FL Studio for about 4 years on PC. I've since switched to mac/logic pro x. FL is nice. It comes with a bunch of samples/plugins, and I really like the plugins. The beat sequencer is pretty straight forward, so that could be good for a beginner. I'd suggest getting a cheap midi keyboard to0

No, it isnt
To make FL sound good you need to know really a lot about it.
Go for Ableton and make something good (or decent sounding at least) from the start.
I passed like 5 years or so on FL not getting what I wanted, 1 year into Live and everything is just perfect

FL is boss and anyone who says otherwise is a corporate shill trying to get you to drop money on more expensive DAWs

Eh. "Producing" Is a strong word. FL will get you in to making beats and dance style music. If you want to create, FL is a great start

To add on to my post, It's great for making videogame style music and remixing videogame music. Recreating existing stuff is a good way to see what capabilities you have

yet another ableton vs fl studio "discussion".
what a quality board this is.
PLEASE ADD IT DOESNT FUCKING MATTER TO THE STICKY.

Ah, thanks. Didn't know about that one.
Hello, I've been making music for 8 years in FL and 2 in Ableton. I stopped using ableton, only because it was more of a hassle for me. If you are using live instrumentation though, I would NOT recommend FL studios, it is fucking STUPID. I use a mix of both, mainly FL tho. Honestly, it all comes down to good vsts, a sense of melody, and boredom.

Literally nothing. all DAWs do pretty much the same thing, just with a different workflor.
>>63143848
Oh god, you prolly make shit music with it. DAW doesn't really matter. If you master FL-Studio it gets same sound........ It's not the DAW, it is the user.

How's Sound Forge? I've been tinkering a while with a shitty free soft, I think's called Soundwave? Anyway, I'm buying a new computer soon and I'd like to get semi-serious about this, and Sound Forge seemed pretty decent (Untrue was made entirely on it, according to wikipedia).
Is it worth buying it?

i would recommend live 9 senpai
