The only thing I ever listened to by him that I felt like returning to is lanquidity.
>>63109567
Of course it is.
It's after the end of the world
>>63109583
lol what?
>>63109641
he means you only like lanquidity because it is the most accessible sun ra album (which is true)
(I still like it)
>>63109699
>languidity
>most accessible sun ra album
love everything he's ever done
>>63109709
yes, by far
nice gif
>>63109744
not true by the way

Wouldn't any of his 50's stuff up to Nubians of Plutonia make more sense considering he was still arguably a traditional jazz composer until then?
Images is one of my favorite tracks of all-time and I love every version they have recorded
Most out-there Sun Ra release?
I've been listening to the Strange Strings / Other Strange Worlds albums

Anything up to and including Jazz in Silhouette is much more accessible. Claiming Lanquidity as his most accessible really just shows how little Sun Ra you've listened to.
>>63109873
nah, I've heard lots of sun ra
he is just ridiculously prolific
the mistake I made was to make a broad generalisation about his work in the first place given how much of it there is
Saw this record in a dollar bin and felt like I had to pick it up last month. It's not very good but just the fact that it exists makes me happy.
If you've never heard it it's Sun and his Arkestra and Al Kooper and the Blues Project shitting out a bunch of instrumental public domain / pop songs for some reason inspired by Batman in an afternoon jam session to make a few quick bucks.

>ridiculously prolific
Thats an understatement. He is the most prolific jazz musician of all time, To the point where completionists of vinyl collections question whether or not they have everything because of the lack of labelling and disorganized release of many of the records.

You have to go back, Sun Ra.
Back to Saturn.
Is Languidity worth delving into or is it just a half hearted post Bitches Brew fusion cash-in?
Fave Ra album is Atlantis if that helps.

Lanquidy is nothing like Miles Davis. It's really strong rhythmically and one of the best jazz releases ever.
>>63110355
Its his most accessible stuff. My favorite album is Outer Spaceways Incorporated and I would recommend it if you haven't heard it
post actually good Sun Ra tracks

>dat Sun Ra organ blast
No mistaking that one
I knew this would happen

I fucking hate this place. Mods are completely incompetent so the ONLY thing keeping a board intact is elitism. /tv/ went from zero to shit hole in four or five months because they let capeshit and cuck threads happen. This board is almost there.
MIA is literally one of the most interesting artists of this generation and it's about a 50/50 roll of the dice if you can discuss her work without getting /pol/ memed to death with DESIGNATED REFUGEE etc etc. Soon you'll have no shot at all.
