honestly, as a "victim" of rape, I don't believe he did it. Her story doesn't add up, I do think that she should get mental help. It's very clear that she isn't mental well and yes I know mentally ill people can get raped too but nothing adds up. Larkin also accused other musicians she worked with of rape/abuse, I don't believe her for a second.

honestly im less terrified of being raped than i am of being raped and not being able to come out about it because of people saying i deserved it or that im making it up for attention.

I think this is ultimately gonna come down to an argument of semantics. They were having an affair and both drunk out of their minds and don't even have a complete recollection of the night themselves. The fact that they were probably desiring to be intimately involved in some way makes him not a rapist in my eyes, but of course people are gonna argue that because she was drunk, she couldn't consent and therefore he raped her. Not to say that there aren't shady guys who manipulate and get chicks drunk just to have sex with them, but I doubt that's what happened here. Gira's not a fucking college frat boy. And even then I think referring to those instances as rape is pretty insulting to rape victims who in no way consented to what was happening, and including the prior situation weakens just how awful the connotation of rape actually is.
But ultimately I really don't care. Gira could be kiddy diddler and he'd still be a fantastic musician/artist. I listen to the music and I like it, that's all that really matters to me.

people who shame "devil's advocates" as victim blaming never bring this up, that the accusation was on fucking facebook. same as that stoya story. they say there is less false accusations than unreported rapes... maybe but what does it have to do with it, i don't see the connection. and i think feminism, gender studies, queer studies and stuff like that is full of interesting and useful ideas. where i am from, poor background, nobody denies this happens often: lady hook up with a guy to exploit him in one way or another. we use this as cautionary tale , hoping it won't happen to one we love while knowing fully well it will keep happening. wish i could share my thoughts with my online acquaintances but i just can't, some would start to hate on me even if i am just expressing myself honestly.
Okay at first I wasn't going to take sides on this until more solid evidence comes out, but reading what Gira, his wife, and ex wife (wife at the time of the incident) all have to say, Larkin's claims don't add up. I know I want Mikey Mike to be innocent so I'm probably seeing this biased, but I really am having a hard time seeing Larkin's claims as legitimate.
