How important is sound quality to you?
pretty fucking important mad lib stop ripping from youtube please
Quite irrelevant, auditory sense is the less developed sense in humans
i care about it enough to seek out high quality rips but not enough to have my entire library in flac like an autist
>>63008931
not very. I can do with a youtube rip.
>>63008931
very important desu but I can deal with youtube
Not really that important, if at all.
as long as there isn't clipping
320kbps is preferable
Enough to use an equalizer on my headphones. Headphones are easy to make satisfactory though. It's really up to the artist and his crew to make a album that has high audio quality.
shit sounds good to me on youtube most of hte time then i go to get shit and its like i check spectrals and everything
if it isn't running on 1000kbps at least then it's fucking unlistenable
I once downloaded Electric Wizard's Witchcult Today from some torrent and the album had like 32kbps, it was remarkably unlistenable.
But besides that I can't really tell the difference between 128kbps and 320kbps audio with my current headphones so I don't really care. Most of the time I prefer downloading 128kbps files or if I really want to I even compress 320s into 128s with format factory, saves up a fuckton of space actually.

>I can't really tell the difference between 128kbps and 320kbps
your deaf m8
My entire music library is in FLAC, not even memeing. Fite me.
>tfw computer is noisy as fuck
>tfw mediocre headphones/speakers
>tfw tinnitus
and I still download everything in flac
>>63009349
good work faggot
>>63009221
I might be actually, never been to the docs because I'd have hearing problems or anything though. How do you think she'd react if I came there and was like "yo doc I can't tell the difference between 128 and 320kbps audio files what do"
you should at least have 320kbps flac is not necessary but it doesn't hurt to have it either
Important enough I always download in FLAC. I have a pair of MDR-7506s, but I really need to upgrade soon.
>>63009455
I've got some of my favorite albums in FLAC, rest is in whatever format I've downloaded it in.

How come this thread about audio quality devolved into bitrate masturbation?
>>63009526
Because production quality =/= audio quality.
>>63009526
if you wanted to talk about production then you should have titled it that way.
>>63009546
Are you stupid?
>>63009615
Ops thread is titled
>How important is sound quality to you
I assumed there'd be a discussion on production techniques to use of eq to talk of accurate frequency responses and distortion and sound reproduction devices and different mixes of albums
Not
>oh well 320 is the lowest I'll go in kbs

implies bit rate
>production quality
implies production techniques

>>63009776
this OP you are a fuckhead
192 works, 256+ is indistinguishable. i really don't give a fuck. people who do are a bit prudish. i doubt even 1% of listeners can tell the difference between anything higher than 256
>>63009776
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sound_quality
Your definition is very stupid as it implies that higher bitrates linearly correspond to sound quality and that perceived sound quality is as infinite as bitrate allows
>>63008931
anything under 256 kbps I cannot listen to.
simple
funny enough: I bought a pair of shitty cheap headphones cos I needed an extra pair and the songs sounded different on them like I heard stuff I never did before.. hard to explain
>>63009876
btw, I tried listening to Metallica's Death Magnetic on those headphones and the guitars were even MORE louder and vibrating over the vocals. Was too insane!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wNSjPNWl96w&list=PLq1UqWidVoSUj48UrTW2_C5i9mn76-bUJ this is one of my favorite albums and it was recorded on a Panasonic boombox. I think one of the reasons its so good is because of the quality mixed with the relaxing spinning sound,
