What the hell am I listening to? Do you have to be on drugs to like this? Is this what hipsters are into? What the fuck, /mu/?

Not at all, but they do help you understand it a bit better if it's your first time with Animal Collective.
>>
>>62976410
what's wrong with it

>>62976457
lol
>>
>>62976457
I mean, like, someone told me it was pop but there are so many parts where it's just noise. And this got good reviews.. >_>
>>
>>62976410
yah
>>
>>62976410
This is their most accessible album. If you don't get it, listen it a few more times or just give up on getting into music at all.
>>
>>62976506
You think that THAT was noise?
>>
>>62976518
>>62976535
It had some good moments I guess. A bit of novelty. But everything is just subpar. Take this song for example. Good playing, good drumming, nice singing - that's how pop should be.

>>62976506
it's psych pop. Pick out the songs you like and listen to those. Maybe listen to strawberry jam or the energetic songs from feels. Then come back to it.

Also alot of people say that the mix could be alot better but I know nothing about production.
>>
>>62976410
just quit listening to music
>>
Listen to Strawberry Jam first
>>
>>62976589
>that's how pop should be

Half the point in any experimentation in a genre is that there is no 'should'

Regardless of your opinion, at least consider the reality that many people love this album for the specific reasons that you do not, because it's the reality you live in.
>>
>>62976535
Also I tried Merzbow before because someone on /DAILY/ said it was a good way of understanding more 'complex' music I guess. I did not like it one bit.
>>
>>62976589
It's not fucking pop you fucking knob
>>
>>62976410
This album is shit desu senpai, dont bother listening to this pleb meme band

>>
>>62976410
One of my favourite albums but admittedly I had this exact reaction first times I listened to it
>>
>>62976791
>>62976791
its literallt been one of mus favorites albums since it came out, as well as being one of the most well-liked albums from indie music culture in the last 15 years. im not even a fan of this album but thats p wrong
>>
The best song is daily routine or also frightened
>>
>>62976410
Played this to my pleb friends who like coldplay only and they thought it was great.

/mu/ becomes BOTTOM-tier plebeian during ameritard hours, of that I am certain now. You can tell because they shamelessly announce their plebdom in threads like this.
>>
>>62977797
those plus brothersport comprise the best songs on the album by far
>>
srsly dont get how people dont like animal collective

>>62977823
This is true. As someone in the US I only make threads asking for music late at night.

In the flowers is alright but overrated as a song, great as an intro though
>>
>>62976791

Pretty much every band is reddit the band. Music in general is pretty much just reddit.
>>
I know its cool to hate it now but honestly MPP is a modern classic and i love it now as much as i did when i first heard it.
>>
Also listened to MPP for the first time today. Pretty good desu. What album should I listen to next?
>>
>>62979192
Strawberry Jam
Fall be Kind
Water Curses
If you like those then listen to Feels and Sung Tongs
>>
Same op, hated it at first but i went back after hearing Floridada, Golden Gal. I love it now. Def not very accessible since the walls of sound can be jarring.

Listen to summertime clothes and brother sport then work backwards
>>
>>62979287
Thanks senpai

>music is reddit
I guess its time for us to go lads. It was nice knowing y'all
>>
brother spork
>>
>>62979362
Sung Tongs is gr8 regardless, apparently it's not that accessible but after that one screaming track I really enjoyed it and was the second AnCo album I loved.

OP, you gotta listen to My Girls first. otherwise, yes drugs are obscenely helpful in getting into their other stuff

you should try this its a much more accessible album
>>
>>62979335
Yeah this, if you listen to some of the poppier singles first then you might be able to get into it easier.

p l e n
>>
>>62980319
it's not as initially shocking as listening to the first track of spirit and then hearing the high pitched screeching
>>
>>62980319
>not crackbox
just kys really
>>
>>62980625
fair enough
maybe just start them on forest gospel?
>>62980632
that's great too but not as noisy
>>
>>62980645
the we tigers version on crackbox is literally just indiscernible yelps from a really close microphone and extremely unrecognizable, low quality drums being blasted the whole time. all in all, it's a good version of the song.
>>
>>62980679
kek
>>
>>62980679
you're not wrong, but I meant as a whole the album wasn't as noisey where there's some noise on every track on hollinndagain
would kill to hear early anco live but it's never happening
>there will never be a proper post-danse semi-live (like campfire songs) album that fleshes out the style of hollinndagain

Gotta be honest. I've listened to this album 4+ times already, and I just don't get it. If this is supposed to be "pop," why can't I remember a single tune from it? It all blurs together. Should I be doing something differently.

I absolutely adore Sung Tongs and Feels, though, and Painting With isn't bad either.

maybe try this version out as well https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqQ7tU26Q6E
