Wow, I made that thread and left it. Never knew there were any blues lovers on /mu/, so I guess this is the official blues thread.

Oh, whatever. Just because he's popular doesn't mean shit. You try playing some of that Johnson shit.
>>
Picked up this lp recently btw

Maybe Robert Johnson played it simple, but there's an unspoken beauty in that simplicity.

Where would your Eric Claptons and Rolling Stones of the world be without him? It still amazes me that people think that Crossroads and Love in Vain are Eric Clapton and Rolling Stones songs, even though it was Robert Johnson who originally wrote and performed them. Clapton and The Stones just re-interpreted them and made the songs their own.

This is one of my favorite records, it was such a good final album by BB
>>
>>62937477
Exactly! There's beauty in the simplicity of the blues. That's why its honesty and charm still endure with musicians and music lovers today
>>
Buddy Guy had a solid record this year too, Born to Play Guitar was a lot of fun
>>
>>62937510
I definitely need to check this out. I miss BB a lot... So that would definitely be a good way to honor his memory
>>
>>62937453

Fantastic lp, that and any Son House album are usually my go to's
>>
>>62937531
Awesome! I fucking love Buddy, when I first heard him I hollered and danced the whole time! I'm definitely checking out that record when I get the chance?

Did Howlin' Wolf ever start to like this album?
>>
>>62937554
Son House is the realest shit. I've been working my ass off to master his slide style. It's so simple yet so elaborate somehow
>>
>>62937579
I saw him open for BB King once on his Living Proof tour. I've been a fan ever since. He completely blew me away. The song, 74 Years Young really took me by surprise because he basically started this intense soloing out of nowhere
>>
>>62937593
No but I did. They fucked up smokestack lightning though.
>>
>>62937593
what a badass holy shit
>>
>>62937653
Holy shit... I'm so fucking jealous man, I hope I get to see Buddy one day

You may have a good chance. He tours constantly. I've seen him 3 times since 2011 since he just keeps coming to Upstate NY. He handed me a pick during one show. Also solo'd in front of me for a few min
>>
>>62937750
Oh my god that's badass! Holy fuck man... Any good old fashioned blues men still around besides Buddy?
>>
>>62937785
Maybe Otis Rush, not a lot of people come to mind anymore. But there are a few good younger musicians coming up, Gary Clark Jr has promise if he ever decides on a friggen genre
>>
>>62937872
Ikr... I sure hope the blues makes a decent comeback. It makes me very sad that I'll never get to see Wolf or little walter

Tbh we could use some good hill country blues singers today. And some good harmonica players.
>>
Also does anyone know of any good white blues singers that don't sound way too white? (Besides like Clapton or the obvious)
