While most of my friends like rap of most varieties, they can't tolerate trap-rap. I have a friend who loves grime for its minimal aesthetics and angry tone, but still doesn't like trap.
Trap rap feels like a full circle to me. Grime is an English response to hip-hop, all these poor black kids who have no culture creating this super dark music. Trap is then american youths appropriating the sound.
Anything by Death Grips, Bruce Springsteen's Nevada, anything by Xiu Xiu, Strong Persuader by Robert Cray, and Gyatso 16-17
