ITT: we post the last three albums we listened to, put a small summary of what we thought and a rating

>cLOUDDEAD - s/t
Fucking great. The production was beautiful and it had a nice chill vibe. Does sound a bit dated but still a great project. 9/10

>busdriver - Perfect Hair
Good album. Some songs were OK but the bulk was great. Interesting production and beats. Ego Rich was great. 8/10

>Geidi Primes
Dull. Boring. Uninspiring. All the songs just sound way to similar to be interesting. 4/10
>>
Fucking Perfect Hair is incredible
>>

>Ben Zimmerman- Baltika Years
An interesting novelty, but as with any archival release, it's not really that engaging

>S. Marhaba
Good sense of cohesion and concept, but the production feels lacking

>Beat Konducta Vol. 5
A masterclass in sampling and beatmaking. Although scattered on occasion, the record has some of the greatest peaks of Madlib's career

>The Hold Steady - Separation Sunday
Masterpiece. One of my all-time favorites - doesn't do anything too experimental or weird, but the instrumentation is like your town's best bar band coupled with absolutely genius lyricism. These guys are the best and totally slept on. 10/10

>The Notorious B.I.G. - Ready to Die
Honestly, I'm not a huge fan of 90s hip-hop. Even so, I can't deny Biggie's skill as an MC. This thing is legendary for a reason, and it hits all the right notes every time. Hip-hop has progressed a lot since this came out, but it still stands strong. 9/10

>The Internet - Ego Death
This album is so smooth that you almost need to *try* to pay attention to it. I think it's enjoyable, and i'm excited to see what they do next, but nothing really blew me away. 6/10
>>
>Yes - The Yes Album
Eh, didn't enjoy it too much, maybe I needa give this another spin 5/10

>Tara King Th. - mostla tara tape
Pretty good, short and sweet pop songs, will relisten 6-7/10

>Unwound - Fake Train
Needed something heavy today and this worked brilliantly, great great album. Makes me wanna check out music in a smiliar vein 8-9/10
>>
>Art Angels
Meh. Kinda dull. I'm thinking Grimes is just a meme now. 5/10

>Spirit Phone
Interesting album. Overall pretty good. Nothing horrible about but it does have some mediocre songs. 7/10

>Future - DS2
its alright. I honestly don't get the hype he gets here. A good amount of tracks just sound generic. 6/10
>>
>The Cure — Pornography
Was surprise at how synth based it is. Fantastic tones on those. Superb atmosphere and songwriting through the whole thing. Definitely a classic.

>Seefeel — Sulphor
Ambient, dark sounds, some idm here and there. Great stuff, worthy follow up to Quique. Check it out if you like ambient, idm or any kind of 90's electronics. Really underrated band.

>Burial — Kindred
Classic. Cozy production with those hiss tape sounds, great composition, great mood. Hes the best at what he does and this is one of his best releases.

just like any of these threads, people will just write their shit and wait for (you)s. Say what you want about reddit but when it comes to communication this place isn't great.

That's just 4chan in general. So many people are addicted to (You)

Isn't this just supposed to be short review of albums? Better than 3x3 jerkery

2 Many DJs- As Heard on Radio Soulwax, Pt. 2
>First listen, an interesting mix, can see how its electroclash tendencies made it such a popular release in the early 2000s. The bass lines are solid throughout, transitions are smooth. Could have been more adventurous, but that's probably because so many samples didn't clear. 6.5/10

Yellow Magic Orchestra- Solid State Survivor
>I feel like this record might not have clicked yet for me. I'm a big fan of disco, and I love the opening track, but I kind of zone out for much of the record. We'll see if it grows. 5.5/10

The Antlers- Hospice
>First time listening to this in full in probably a few years. I remember how much /mu/ adored this thing shortly after its release and then it dropped off the map. It's melodramatic for sure, which hurts it in some places (Sylvia's chorus feels powerful yet hollow because of it), but the melodies are still strong on tracks like Two and Bear. Not sure how I feel about its tendency to go for "hazy/atmospheric" sounds. 6/10

Yeah I don't get the hype over Hospice. Its decent but nothing to go crazy for

>Burzum - s/t
A Black Metal classic. Not as amazing as Hvis Lyset and Filosofem, but still great. 8.5/10
>Behemoth - Grom
Not as good as Sventevith, but still a good black metal album. The female vocals are kinda wank and don't really belong but otherwise it's pretty nice and atmospheric. 7/10
>Xavier Wulf - Tundra Boy Season One
Solid hip hop, probably Wulfs second best tape after Project X. A few unnecessary instrumentals and some questionable lines. Nice production. 6/10
>>
>Melt-Banana - Cell-Scape
I've been meaning to get into these guys for a while, and listening to this for the first time confirmed it. It's exactly the dense, energetic music I love, taking relatively simple pop sensibilities and fucking them up.
>The World is a Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid to Die - Helplessness
A lot of people didn't like this as much as Whenever, If Ever, but I think it's a lot more ambitious. Not a fan of We Need More Skulls, though.
>Obscura - Akroasis
I really need to listen to more metal so I can have actual thoughts on this. Pretty good, though.
