What are the other essential experimental electronic albums from recent years? I've been obsessed with this one for a while now, and I want more. I love the flow and the general depressive undertone to it. So, more sad progressive electronics?

this.

Elysia Crampton- American Drift
>>
try lotic's latest releases
maybe holly herndon but might be a stretch
>>
>>62615162
herndon's pretty bad

arca's stretch series is the best work he's ever done, but xen is better for a more depressive feeling
also a better album than mutant

huerco s - colonial patterns always came across as a little sad to me
>>
>>62615100
I was about too, listened only to Replica. >>62615162
>Holly Herndon
Liked her performance at Unsound Festival, but it was more like The Knife.

I will give the rest a try.
>>
Everything by Andy Stott.

A bajillion Opal Tapes releases.

Holden - The Inheritors
>>
Oh, and everything by Lee Gamble and a bunch of PAN releases. Let me think of specifics.

I dont know if it's as experimental as mutant, but imo its the best electronic album of the decade.
>>
Nevermind, I need to go back and listen to a bunch of PAN releases. Also:

Karen Gwyer - Needs Continuum
Laurel Halo - Chance of Rain
>>
Oneohtrix Point Never - Replica
The Knife - Silent Shout
>>

not sure if it's progressive or what you even mean by that but most of the music put out on posh isolation and northern electronics can be categorized as "sad". kinda. listen to these
croatian amor - the world
mats erlandsson - selective miracles
händer som vårdar - interiors
varg - misantropen
född död - studie i närhet, längtan & besvikelse
acronym - june

>>62615650

i haven't dug that far into their catalog but i loved that one
>>
>>62615642
i really dislike the oompaloompa grooves he has going on. a shame because he sounds like a good producer.

Them fucking brassy bass synths. This album is simultaneously over- and under-rated. Should be in the second tier of "/mu/ essentials".

Haxan Cloak has some good stuff, a little bit less electronic tho.
then yeah, all the essentials, opn, tim hecker, ben frost.

Definitely. Faith in Strangers is really good, and I quite liked his collaboration with Miles Whitaker on Drop the Vowels
>>
>>62622153
>>62621309
don't get me wrong, I adooooore immunity, but I don't know how experimental it is. It's an interesting house album for sure, but not nearly as weird (in a good way) as arca's catalogue.
>>
>>62622153
Haven't been able to stop listening to it recently.
>>
You guys are fucking posers, stop it with the Pitchfork generation-Tier electronic music

where the fuck is the point in circlejerking the same records that anyone could find with a simple google search or droning any popular online music magazine?
>>
OP here, thanks for all the recommendations.
Andy Stott, Jon Hopkins, OPN, Ben Frost, Autechre, Dean Blunt, The Knife, William Basinski, Tim Hecker is the stuff that I already heard.
>>62618692

I would say a number of Andy Stott tracks are pretty uplifting, such as Hatch the Plan (which is a masterpiece) and Luxury Problems
>>
besides Elysia Crampton
Fatima Al-Qadiri (her 2011-2012 EPs,and her next album; Asiatisch was too disappointing).

Would pharnakon be too much? Not sure where experimental electronic stops and industrial noise whatever starts. Anyways, check her she's also much more cute than this meme cunt mu is so obsessed with

Mutant is literally the best aspects of Xen mixed with the best aspects of Stretch
>>
>>62625516
while i don't agree with this post entirely i found mutant to be way, way better than xen which was a huge letdown compared to arca's previous work

as for the OP i would check:
amon tobin
clark
fuck buttons
forest swords
pantha du prince
emeralds
deepchord/echospace

and the Stretch EPs. Arca's come a long way, but his early releases are really legit.
