Best music now is better than best music then, but it is harder to find best music of the now than it is to find best music of the then.
>>
They're almost as bad as the contrarian faggots that shit on eveything from the 70s to stick it to those guys and then proceed to lap up to top 40 to show how tolerant and embracing of the current generation they are

I'm more sick of 'born in the right generation' morons as everybody else that isn't a Redditor is now
>>

Can you elaborate
>>
>>62610687
How about you stop drawing attention to them then by making stupid threads like these?
>>
>>62610707
"60s war music" well that is just awesome.
>>
I'm kinda sick of these morons who are so fucking concerned with whatever random strangers on the internet are listening to. No idea why that's so damned important to anyone claiming to have their own superb tastes. I'd think actually experiencing music would take up more of that type of person's time than scouring facebook for people they can feel superior to.

I'm sick of retards that can't admit that consumable artistic pop culture has gone to utter shit since the internet has become ubiquitous and made it all literally worthless.

the only music that was worth a damn since 1998 was witch house and you faggots killed it
>>
>>62610846
Just because certain music is no longer confined to a secret record collection in somebody's clubhouse doesn't make it "literally worthless". Content stands on its own merits regardless of who has access to it. This condescension is highschool cool kids-tier bullshit.
>>
>>62610793
On a side note, I'm also sick of these "real fans" who gain some sort of moral superiority by listing to everything an artist releases.

You know, those people who don't think you're a fan of (x) musician, unless you listened to their underground, soviet union - limited edition mixtape or whatever.

They are arguably worse than "wrong generationers" because they ruin the musicians fan base; however, the "wrong generationers" are just trying to be nuanced and "different" than all the other morons their age by listing to AC/DC or whatever mainstream band they think is "underground"

The whole "real fan" thing doesn't only apply to music, they infest literally every fandom, hell they are also on 4chan, where do you think the terms "newfag and oldfag" came about?

Yeah, they suck.
>>
>>62610718
Actually they're probaly worse since the best rock came from the 60s and 70s. Everything else is just copying those decades.
>>
>>62610687
Me but i don't blame them, you need to research to know good music of today but is so easy to find good music of the past.
When I meet someone who thinks this I show him good musicians of today
>>
>>62610892
Never did get how someone can get a sense of superiority by being a better consumer of a commodity than someone else. Art is meant to be shared and appreciated. It's not a contest of who can be exposed to the most/best. The ubiquity of the internet is actually helping that imo.

I'm tired of them, sure. There's tons of great artists out there today, you just have to turn off the radio and turn on last.fm.

That being said, for the average person with a social life, they're often too busy to properly research and dig into music like we do, so because their lifestyle keeps them from doing this, when they hear dadrock, it feels like a whole new world of more meaningful music.

Given their lack of time to sit down and dig into modern music outside of what plays on the radio, this older music seems infinitely better than what they had been listening to.

Hence, the "born in le wrong generation" kids. If only they weren't so damn busy enjoyong the rest of life.
>>
>>62612203
Ouch. Nice one anon
>>
I'm more tired of the poptimist lerightgeneration types who suck taylor swift, all other pop and trap shit as hard as they can.

The truth is, if someone is a fan of rock they're right on saying it was better in the past. Lots of shit today is awful and what's acceptable is incredibly uncreative

You are everything that is wrong with everything if you thinkin the manufactured Top 40 pop has any artistic value whatsoever. Lots of good music is being made today, but you will find very little of it on the radio
>>
>>62613565
Literally why would you give a fuck> There's a reason the "top 40" is the way it is because it's easy to listen to and most people a.k.a. simpletons like it that way. You on the other hand can just enjoy your shit without crying about it like a little autistic faggot.

Why does anyone care what kids say? They're still figuring out the world, so I doubt they'd have any serious grasp on any subject.
And I can't be the only one here that listened to the Beatles and Pink Floyd before I found out about Radiohead and Arcade Fire. The past is full of music that is just as good if not better than the music that is coming out now, and there's decades of it to sift through.

Music is literally worthless. You can download or youtube anything. You can acquire it for free. It literally has no worth.

Thats monetarily. I'm convinced it is directly tied to personal or individual worth. It is simply not valued as much as it has been in the past in many ways.
>>
>>62616548
And if you try to make the point that maybe music would mean something greater than it does now if copyright laws were heavily enforced and you had to purchase music again (which in the end would be more beneficial for both small time artists, large corporate artists, and the consumer who feels what they are listening to has more value to them) they will throw a fucking shit fit about how you must be a shill and they have the RIGHT to steal other peoples work.

The result is the only things that make any money any more to continue are large corporations which can cram music they want to peddle through radio, commercials, licensing in movies, etc.

The small time musician has been ass fucked. And the consumer has been ass fucked because music lacks value. (Same thing more or less with movies).
>>
>>62615680
this man is 67 years old btw
>>
The only right way to go about this is to listen to music from any time since both music in the past and music now have redeeming qualities. I used to be one of the people who thought modern music sucked but there's so much good stuff.

I don't think there's a movement of people who only listen to top 40 to be contrarian. It's just easier to listen to top 40 music so that's what a lot of people do, especially if they don't really care much about music. I don't think there are people who listen to Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift because they hate wrong generation people. Though all the Kanye talk on this board is kind of making this seem likely.
>>
>>62614938
nah it was a yryl thread on /b/
>>
>>62615704
very good post here
>>
>>62616807
Believe it or not you can simultaneously listen to popular music with anything else. Some of those artists are actually worth a shit like kanye, this has always been true too.
>>
It's not really about "music" per-se. it's about rock music. Why would I be wrong if prefer rock from the sixties-nineties instead of the current state of rock music?
>>
>>62617392
Yeah but a lot of dadrockers and le wrong generation kids tend to see older music through a very narrow vacuum. Sometimes, in terms of lyricism, they forget that for every Stairway to Heaven there's a Whole Lotta Love.
>>
>>62617633
yeah but that doesn't answer my question
>>
>>62614386
Nah, I've just been lurking I guess
>>
The songs on the radio were undeniably better 40-50years ago, also the 70's were a golden age for rock but fe. "Is this it" tops led zeppelins whole discography imo, basically the wrong gen fags are mostly wrong but the top 40/kanye fags are just as bad
>>
>>62618377

>>62618919
>Tell me im pretty is of simmiliar style/quality and that came out rather recently

That's like a band from '75 sounding likeGene Vincent in terms of timeline. I'd say this is rather telling of the situation.
>>
>>62619114
I was 16 when it came out, my main point is that great rock is still around even though its golden age was long ago
