As an outsider, I have to strongly disagree. The problem with Ye is the exact opposite. When he tries to say something intelligent and insightful, it tends to come off as short-sighted, obvious or cliche. When there's no filter (and it seems like there often isn't) he says a lot of really stupid things. When he proclaims himself a genius or compares himself to Shakespeare it really rubs people the wrong way.
