When it comes to hip hop, Anthony does away with this notion and approaches every album like he's never heard of the artist before. This might be to give an unbiased perspective for those viewers that don't follow the artist, since most people who do care about their persona probably already made up their mind before jumping into the video, but it comes off as really dishonest.
Its like somebody who's never seen Breaking Bad writing a review of Better Call Saul. Sure that might be a valuable perspective, but its also pretty insulting to anyone in the audience that invested time and thought into the source material.
