First impressions are pretty solid 4 me. Pretty great feel-good record.
Some initial criticisms tho:
Almost feel like their sonic palette was a little too consistent on this album. Kind of eliminates a lot of "woah that was unexpected" moments I really like when listening to an AnCo album. The basslines and beats could have used more variety in particular.
I'm trying to get on board with the short and to the point tracks they're going for this time around, but I can't help but miss their ambient / droney side.
Wish they had utilized more of John Cale and Colin Stetson. I got excited when Lying in the Grass dropped, was hoping they'd use some more organic instrumentation throughout. Sounds a little synthetic to me.
Only have listened twice through though, obviously needs more listens.

Ok so i have heard the album quite a few times now. Avey really kicked Panda's ass this time. Most of the tracks are good and have a nice replay value. Songwritting is far better than Hz and prod too. Bagels in Kiev is the most memorable thing they have done since Fall be Kind.

Pretty much this. If CHz was eqivalent of painting with 40 different colors and smearing them into a clusterfuck then this one is like using the same 2 colors throughout the whole thing.

Oh, and when that piano comes in on On Delay I just get lost in it, it's a nice little line that fits in the song really well. Album as a whole feels pretty average though, and as much as I hate to try to say people are pretending to like it because I don't think it's quite that, it feels like people are giving this a pass because it's AnCo and they're actively trying to appreciate it in spite of its flaws.
i usually dont like anco albums that much on the first listen but then grow to absolutely love them overtime, i can feel its gonna be the same with pw. Some tracks are already great though

I feel 10 times whiter after listening to this.
Just finished listening to it and I kind of feel its rather dull and monotonous. None of any of the other songs on this album had the playfulness of "Floridada" that I was expecting from this album. Nothing else just really stands out, its feels like the same thing for 40 mins. This is my first impression so it might change, but I'm kind of underwhelmed by it. I wish it had more of a spark or energy or something that made it feel more alive.
