>>62576128
the production/mixing is so perfect on this track
on the album version tho not the one on youtube
>>62576244
I thought the sound quality on Kala at times was kinda sketchy but I didn't mind because it's entirely in line with the bootleg aesthetic.
Like supposedly her and Blaqstarr made The Turn on a shitty laptop with a pirated version of FL studios. When she brought it to get mixed/mastered, the engineers were like "we really can't do much with this".
Legit better than Ghost Rider.

I've always disliked this song because I just hate favela funk in general. Unfortunately I think there's gonna be some of that on her next album.
she is one my favorite artists of all
this song is so crazy

Does she have any instrumentals?
>>62577292
>favela funk
What's some favela funk you've listened to? I know nothing about that genre but bucky done gun is a classic
Actually the whole Arular album is fantastic
>>62578047
An assortment of sets off YouTube. It ain't exactly an album genre. I suppose Diplo and Leo Justi are good entry points if you're new to it.
Diplo's done a documentary about the genre too. Worth checking out
does anyone know if she smokes weed or at least used to ??
>>62578215
and i had no idea she had a son until like a month ago
>>62578194
Oh ok i thought it was a bigger thing I just like those words "favela funk" I'll check out diplo
>>62578215
Who the fuck cares. Everyone has atleast tried it im sure
>>62578215
She has used some drugs, no idea for how long and what kinds though
>>62578215
>“I went to Bequia with a friend who wanted to get away from hard times,” she recalls. “I started going out to this chicken shed with a sound system. You buy rum through a hatch and dance in the street. They convinced me to come to church where people sing so amazingly. But I couldn’t clap along to hallelujah. I was out of rhythm. Someone said, ‘What happened to Jesus? I saw you dancing last night and you were totally fine.’ They stopped the service and taught me to clap in time. It was embarrassing.”
>Then, she got stoned at night and wrote swaggering rogue flaunt, “M.I.A.,” procuring the appellation as stage name and dedicating it to her former London gang association with Missing In Action.
>“I’d never smoked weed,” she admits. “At the time, it helped kick-start and focus my obsession with music. But it’s not productive if you’re completely reliant on it. I’m constant – the same high or not.”
>M.I.A. adds a small disclaimer, “Getting high is like losing control and these days women have too much on their plate raising kids, working, looking good, being on MySpace.”
>>62578215
If she doesn't actively smoke she's definitely pro-legalization, she just has to be she seems pretty liberal. I thought her new song she says "weed and smartphones, don't beat em" but apparently it's "we'dom smartphones, don't be dumb" And of course there's "sticks and stones and weed and bongs"
>>62575039
Galang, both song and video
>>62578319
Diplo, btw, is the same guy who produced Bucky (and Paper Planes).
Looking pretty likely that he'll win a producer of the year Grammy tonight,

Definitely used to.
>>62578632
Yeah I knew he did bucky done gun never listened to his solo work
>>62578821
He's produced some nice trip hop in the past too.
Sad to see him as an EDM posterboy these days.
>>62577563
Amazon is great.
Is it just me or is the whole of Arular really 'sunny' and uplifting, despite its subject matter?
>>62578441
just curious. i just think shes cool and i think its cool that she doesn't brag about it in her songs
>>62579957
do you dislike weed or something?
Are you fucks delusional?
It's obviously Sunshowers or Bucky Done Gun
http://runthetrap.com/2016/02/14/baauer-premieres-new-track-temples-w-g-dragon-and-m-i-a-s-at-alexander-wangs-nyfw-show/
she did a pretty cool feature on a Baauer track recently
>>62579957
Bruh she advocates violent armed rebellion and you're worried about weed.

fuck is wrong with you
>>62583891
Love this album but there is literally no defense for Exodus being on it twice
>>62590548
it's puzzling too cause Sexodus isn't on either of the original tracklists.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2kpoaqfukOA
I think she wanted this song to be the closer, but saved it for her documentary, and closed the album with Sexodus last minute.
>>62590460
Giving the kids guest verses is one of the most genius, unique uses of a feature I've ever seen on a rap song. It's a stark contrast to Timbaland's retardation on Come Around.
