I was a total p4k drone and an OG chillwaver back in the mid to late noughties, and was bumping all the best indie buzz bands, and found the board via the bald guy with glasses

I don't entirely remember but I will always regret being into Nightcore at some point in my life.

G-Eazy, Logic, Hoodie Allen etc. LCD Soundsystem, Arcade Fire, Lemaitre, Joey Bada$$, Mac Miller, Macklmore, Phoenix, Ratatat, The Kooks, The Roots, Vampire Weekend. That's some of the biggest ones from my pre-/mu/ mp3 library.

A lot of really obscure things too, because I really enjoy finding hidden gems.

I didn't listen to music before I came to /mu/ and I still don't despite being here since 2010. Tbh I'm only here to meme and shitpost in ">band has two drummers" threads.

I first ventured into /mu/ in 2007 and was pleasantly surprised. I honestly thought it would just be discussions about anime and video game music.

lots of cool people here with great taste

I can see why the menchildren on /v/ might think we're pretentious though

EDM and Nu-metal mostly

Indie, punk, and classic rock mostly.

So stuff like The Beatles, Sonic Youth, The Clash, Pavement, The Doors, Can, Pixies, etc. I also really liked early Swans as well.

Then when I came here I found out Kid A, which got me into electronic. I was a huge rock elitist back in the day.

/mu/'s general taste is awful and the quality of discussion is bad too, but the archives are good.

In fact, fine, make that avant-prog-fusion. But still more prog than fusion.

when i was like 14 i listened to metallica, ac/dc, guns n' roses and nirvana
as i grew up i started to listen to more grunge like pearl jam and soundgarden but also other alternative rock stuff from the 90's
eventually i got to the pixies, sonic youth and dinosaur jr
it was then i got to /mu/ and started listening to 90's post-hardcore and 80's hardcore
now i listen to pretty much everything
it is my belief that rock music is dead as of 2011

Not really, I've been lurking for several years, but the desu/senpai posts lately have been the equivalent of shitposting or spouting off a meme to be unfunny or ironic. I just don't get why it has gotten worse.

Haven't really changed what kind of music I listened to because of /mu/ but I've found some cool stuff here from charts and coming here made me get a last.fm and RYM accounts for finding new music. And I just generally got sick of the music I was listening to.

Further in the past I mostly listened to 60s and 70s rock like Queen, Beatles, etc. A little later I started listening to metal. Opeth, Dio, Iron Maiden, Ayreon, and others. I continued this while starting to browse here but after a while I just wanted to find more music and branch out. Initially I started listening to stuff like black and sludge metal. More recently I'm listening to "art" pop (for lack of a better term), instrumental hip hop, anarcho-punk and associated bands, 80s stuff like post punk, synthpop, and new wave, and been trying out powerviolence and crust punk.
