Incredible album with multiple diverse sounds that call back to his previous works, yet it is somehow still cohesive. There are a number of tracks that are just breathtaking production wise, the only low point of the album is his lyricism on many of the tracks but it's nothing unbearably bad.

I don't know how to give scores, but 9 doesn't seem off. It's a very good album imo.
If Facts, Silver Surfer, and maybe Lowlights weren't on this album it was perfect.
Should be a 10. Kanye "Jesus Christ" West is the only politician alive who makes all of his own beats from scratch and never samples.
It's easy to flip through a bunch of Marvin Gaye records and loop a 10 second sample and then talk over it. Creating a melody from scratch while trying to sound both original and appealing at the same time is a rare talent. Lots of diversity on this album as well.
Is it his best? Maybe not, but it's up there and it still deserves a 10.

What bothers me with this review is how whoever wrote it acknowledges that Kanye now comes off as a regular asshole, that some of his lyrics are his worst ones to date, that this album doesn't bring anything new to hip-hop and won't influence people, that his antics are getting too vulgar and can't be defended anymore and that TLOP feels rushed / incomplete, but still allows him to get a "best new music" with a 9.
Not that I expected p4k to not be swallowers for Yeezy, but damn that's a lot of negative points that don't seem to be taken into account when giving the rating.

As a huge Kanye fan (MBDTF is my aotdecade, enjoyed all of his releases) I thought this was album was delightfully ambitious in part, and not that far from what we've seen from Ye over the years, but a lot of the tracks were not served due dilligence with the rapping. As a rap album, it's like a 6/10, creative beats and interesting changeups (ie. great production, in the hiphop sense) can only boost it up to 8/10. Yeezy himself, like always, is the worst offender lyrically. Some of the shit he says is funny "ehhh lol, classic yeezy", but most of it just underwhelming attempts at being cheeky with pretty weak flow.
I actually had to wait til last night to listen (my gf asked me to wait for her), but I was reading the threads and getting everybody's opinion for an entire day. Readingg songs like "Famous" and "Feedback" and "FML" were all 'bangers', and then actually throwing them on led to major disappointment. Hearing how bad "Facts" was repeatedly, then realizing Kanye made the beat at least twice as hard as the earlier incarnation - it was actually p good. "No More Parties in LA" 'doesn't belong on the album'? Well, then I guess the album's a 7 because that was FAR AND AWAY the best song on the album. "Ultra Lightbeam" and "30 Hours" were good (but isn't an Arthur Russell sample a little too on-the-nose? It's just hipster pandering, really). Chance was fantastic on Lightbeam, I don't get why some people aren't into him. He's just a smiley, happy, likeable guy with a very strong sense of musicality, even when mumbling and grumbling.
Like I said 8.0. Good, could have been great (may still be if Ye keeps editing). Had a lot of the same ambition of Yeezus and MBDTF, just a little less sensibility than both.
