THIS. The genre is the most cancerous, shitty, devoid of actual musicality in the world. It has NOTHING to do with actual Funk, it's like a watered down rap, with repetitive rhythm, (ALL the songs, literally ALL of them have the same exact rhythm.) The most basic form of melody, it's so fucking basic that even a 6 year old can pull it off. And the lyrics are beyond horrible. They are so fucking bad, that they seem to be written ironically, but they are not. And the genre is one of the reasons the country is so fucking shit.

It's definitely the worse genre. Those edgy teens gotta have something to listen to that makes them feel empowered and badass, and rap is just that. Shallow, untalented, boring music complemented by lyrics filled with obscene undertones. Awful. Give it 10 years, you guys, and you'll look back on your rap obsession and see how moronic it is.

You're confusing shitty metalcore/deathcore with actual metal. There's a LOT of shitty bands within the metal genre, but there's a lot of good bands too. Much like rap, some are good, others are complete shit. You can't just generalize a whole genre like that.

This is the definition currently accepted and taught by most music professors around the world, and disagreement would have you mocked for your primitive, restrictive and close minded point of view.
So yes, noise is music. Just as metal was music. Just as rock and roll was music. Just as the blues were music.
Every generation pushes the boundaries of music beyond what the previous ones had accepted.
And really, if you were to structure harsh noise into rhythm and melody, instead of letting it be a post-ambient dronish genre, you would get one of the most popular genres of music these days.
Dubstep.
So basically, if dubstep was more dark ambient/drone with industrial and black metal influences, you would get noise. It's really not that far of a jump.
