Holy fuck. HOLY FUCK. This album is fucking beautiful, where has this been all my life? Discuss this album /mu/.
TLOP though
you're late to the party but yes it's fantastic
>>62545700
>TLOP though
lel
>>62545670
It's great, Madlib did it again and managed to get the best out of Gibbs
Really well rounded album. High is a top tier song, played the shit outta that - mostly cause Danny Brown slaughtered the fuck out his verse
My cosy summer shit. More replay value than madvillainy too
Piñata, Thuggin, Deep, Shitsville, Robes.
I just can't handle how good this album is.
>>62545887
this
also my roommate bought it on vinyl and the sleeve looks pretty dope with the zebra framing
10/10
>>62545670
yeah it's great album. shitsville and high is dope. But for some reason I don't replay it much.
>>62546103
best alternate cover.
Why is broken so criminally underrated? It's one of the bests song and features fucking scarface who spits some great bars.
IT'S 2AM
THE PLACE IS GONNA CLOOOOOSE
>3.67 on RYM
fucking RYM plebeians, this should be near 3.90 at least
>>62546145
scarface is still alive? wtf
>>62545670
i kind of like the first few songs. i guess it just never clicked for me
>>62546209
how can you not like the firest 6 minutes of the album, aka Pinãta.
>>62546166
What the fuck makes you think he was dead? He lost all the fat and dropped a fantastic album this year called Deeply Rooted. The original paranoid gangsta is alive and well, god bless.
>>62546036
>no harolds
Wew
>>62546145
This and High are best tracks from the project
>>62545824
>Madlib did it again and managed to get the best out of Gibbs
you're giving Madlib way too much credit and Freddie Gibbs way too little
Madlib just has a shit ton of beat CDs that he gives to people and they pick from. when i saw him live he could barely fucking function. he was dropping shit all over the place and couldn't even fucking DJ
and judging from Gibbs' social media, his snapchat and stuff, dude is really focused, driven, intelligent
>>62546209
That's how I felt initially but then I gave it another listen and it became flawless.
>>62546162
don't get me started on rym fucking shits
>>62546148
underrated song.
>>62546278
i honestly thought he died in like 2003
>>62546304
nah madlib carried Gibbs.
live hip hop shows are always shit.there's a reason why kanye fucks with madlib not gibbs
real recognize real
>>62546304
saw freddie and madlib at p4k last summer, can confirm. it was still a dope show though
>>62546377
>him dying after the fix
Maybe then he get the mainstream recognition he deserves as being one of the greatest rappers to gripe a mic.
>>62546377
>being this based
A MILLION A DAY IS FOR MINIMUM WAGE
WORK A NIGGA LIKE A SLAVE TIL THEY PUT HIM IN HIS GRAVE
>>62546398
Madlib's beats are suited well to Gibbs' rapping
Madlib has plenty of shit projects when bad rappers are rapping on his beats - see Bad Neighbor from last year
there's plenty of good hip hop shows - Madlib was hands down the worst show i've ever seen, bar none
you don't know what you're talking about, and you don't know hip hop
>>62546591
FREDDIE I'M ON THE SAME PAGE
I liked the follow up album better, forrealforreal. I don't like them grainy-ass beats on this shit.
Only tracked I liked on it was the jawn with Danny Brown.
Sounds like an old ass neighbor that don't know how to turn down her novellas.
>>62546985
If you're not b8ing you need to get the fuck out. Madblib production is phenomenal and fits Gibbs flow like a glove. Shadow of a doubt is a good album, but ultimately irrelevant, pinata is a masterpiece that will always be brought up in later years.
>>62547118
I acknowledge that it's a good album; I just don't fuck with it. I don't like the production. Shit reminds me of my Grandma Yvette whose house smells like mothballs, whose still uses an antennae to watch tv.
>>62547118
Madlib's shit doesn't fit anyone like a glove
Madlib's beats are blunted, they're loose
TO BE CLEAR - i agree the production is phenomenal
but Gibbs is the one fitting it like a glove
from reading your comment it almost seems like you think Gibbs did a bunch of acapellas and Madlib formed the beat around him
>>62546669
nah It's you who has no cool about hip hop. the proof is in the pudding. kanye fucks with madlib not gibbs.
>>62547403
hahaha alright homie
>>62545670
good production forever ruined by a hood nigger. should have stuck with doom
>>62547253
>>62546985
get the fuck back to ktt you fucking cornball
It sounds trivial..... But all the grunting puts me off. Pinata would be a 9/10 track for me..... Except I can't listen to it on account of the start of it makes me feel like I'm listening to porn actors
>>62547314
>Madlib's beats are blunted, they're loose
That's so vague and obtuse don't why your bothered writing it.
>Gibbs did a bunch of acapellas and Madlib formed the beat around him
How was that even implied? I said his production and gibbs lyrical output fit each other nicely. The reason being it was a complete 180 from what Gibbs has been putting out, and the soulful production of this album is a rarity in this era of hiphip with some notable exceptions.
>>62547489
ah yes, the guy who's too lazy to do anything
you realize that Madlib had all the beats for Madvillainy 2 turned in to DOOM to complete like 8 years ago, right?
also take it to /pol/ or /b/ you racist piece of shit
big time watts is the only thing left in my rotation
>>62547626
Watts is objectively the comfiest track of 2015
>>62547544
Fasten your seatbelt next time you decide to dickride this album this hard, pussyboy. I said the album was fine; I just didn't fuck with it like that.
You probably didn't even listen to GIbbs prior to Pinata, you cave dwelling yakub.
>Freddie Gibbs will never surpass this
Pinata is a modern classic, It's just as good as Madvillain. I personally like Pinata better but I recognize Madvillain as pretty great
>>62547705
I initially didn't like it that much either. Give it a couple more listens. Try just using a stereo and listening to it background music, you'll appreciate the instrumentalism and soul/funk production a bit more.
I like this album better than Madvillainy. I feel like Doom and Madlib fit a little too nicely together, and Madlib's comfy production works well with that juxtaposition made by Gibb's gravely gangsta style
>>62547577
how is it vague and obtuse? you ever smoked weed? do you know anything about beats? or flow?
i'm saying Madlib's beats are the opposite of tight
a tight, rigid beat...anyone who can rap can rap on that
it takes skill to be able to adapt to Madlib's beats and rap on them well
it's not like Madlib listened to Gibbs' rapping and then hand-crafted him a bunch of beats to fit his flow
Madlib just did what he always does. Gibbs is the one who should get the credit for sounding great on the beats
again, Madlib's beats are great. i'm not taking anything away from him. but if you give Madlib the lion share of the credit for how good Pinata is and Gibbs next-to-none, well, i don't think you know much about hip hop
whose ass is it??
>>62546281
Harold's is 2014 hip hop SOTY
>>62547862
I might, idk.
>>62547892
I feel the same. My problem with Doom has always been the skits. Pinata has less unnecessary skits but one it does have them it's a nice touch and works well. When doom is flowing it's great, but when he's not I tune out.

Pronto and Shadow of a Doubt were really good too
