It's not a meme ITAOTS, Death Grips, AnCo and all those other bands aren't like Jason Aldean and DALE. Loads of people enjoy the above albums, people only like Aldean and DALE ironically.

You know what OP, I don't really like it either. But everyone else claims its inspirational and really good so why don't you just shut up, move on, and not spend your life trying get people pissy on the internet

Why don't you like it?

This.

It's a nice album and obviously important, or whatever, but the only reason /mu/ likes it is because of POWER.

Anyone who says otherwise is full of shit.

Who the fuck hadn't heard 21st Century Schizoid Man a long time before Power was released? It's one of the most popular prog rock songs ever. I refuse to believe people here are that young, though you are probably right.

>>
>>62535502
You've got an enormous and powerful opener with insane instrumental passages followed by extremely beautiful and melodic numbers with amazing production for the time. Not to mention quality musicianship (fucking mellotron!) and the enormous amount of influence it has had. One of the earliest Progressive Rock albums.

It's not like it's that difficult to grasp OP.
>>
>>62535901
is this the post-1994 syndrome?
>>
>>62535901
I don't get the point of your post. Are you just saying that the only reason it's considered /mu/core is because it has a song that kanye sampled?

Or are you saying that anyone on /mu/ who says they like the album (other than you of course) is full of shit?

Either way your post is stupid.

>>62542221
Indeed. I used to consider the percussion passage in Part 1 (superior to Part 2 BTW) the standard for... I don't even know that. But this kind of instrumental spaghetti is very satisfying. I can only think of a comparably entrancing sequence in 'Silently Falling' by Chris Squire (featuring Patrick Moraz!).

yeah, his style is most detectable on LTiA pt 2.

>>

>his style is most detectable on LTiA pt 2.

No, I meant he played on 'Fish out of Water'.

>is it bad if i think discipline is too "80's"

I don't know to be honest, to me music had ended in the '70s
and was revived in the late '90
only to die again sometime before the '10s

. But I think 'The Sheltering Sky' for instance, my favourite(which says something considering how relatively slow it is), pretty much defies decades. (I vaguely remember liking the following version more BTW.)

https://youtube.com/watch?v=7c2H5TkR5Vk

Also I wouldn't know because frankly I hardly listened to the originals, but again let me say that 'Absent Lovers' has been almost universally claimed to give life to 'Beat' and 'ToaPP' numbers. It's on YouTube.

All of them. Fripp is a one in a generation tier genius.
>>
>>62535502
Because they feel like they're supposed to. In truth, it's one of the least interesting King Crimson albums now that the dust has settled. Its real value is more to do with its context and the movement it inspired rather than the actual music.
>>
>>62540793
>only listening to albums /mu/ tells you to listen to
If you were actually curious and aren't listening to music just so you can join in on the dank memes, you'd listen to them all.
>>
>>62546075
King Crimson is just patrician dadrock
>>
>>62542836
okay...maybe experimental music died in the 80's, but i wouldn't know. I haven't listened to every experimental rock album of that time period.

but music died until the late 90's?? dude: pixies, black flag, the stone roses..

and then hip hop
wu tang, tribe, beastie boys (post license to ill), nas, pharcyde

i mean, if those aren't your thing, thats fine. Music was dead to you, but theres some pretty good stuff that came out.
>>
>>62546303
no, its actually pretty good. i like contemporary music, but i loved King Crimson when i was like 12
