Imma disagree with that. LET was their "hits" album with all the hooks. MM was the one where they showed off a wider variety of flows and better wordplay. The beats are also a lot more surrealistic sounding.

Finally listened to good kid, m.A.A.d city.
It's okay, but only okay.
I think Kendrick was able to blow up because poor black kids where able to relate, and old hip-hop fans/pretentious white kids were able to appreciate the 90's sound.
And then he has 4 songs with really memorable production/mainstream appeal that anyone could like (Swimming Pools, Backseat Freestyle, m.A.A.d city, Bitch Don't Kill My Vibe).
I'm not really a fan, I don't fuck with concept albums heavy, especially when it's rap.
There's too much context and listening to it alone doesn't feel as good as impactful, it's why I had to delete Summertime 06.
Kanye and Chidlish Gambino (even though he's corny and pretentious) did it better.
But I will say this, the transition from Sing About Me/I'm Dying of Thirst to Real to Compton is beautiful.
If any rap album should be adapted to a movie it's good kid, m.A.A.d city.
I don't think I'm ever going to find another rapper I like as much as Kanye.
