Did Garfunkel use falsetto in Bridge over Troubled Water?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H_a46WJ1viA

I just heard it for the first time and Jesus Christ his voice is high.
>>
>>62066690

Maybe a little head voice in the verses when he's singing lightly. At the end he's going full ham in chest voice. No falsetto.
>>
>>62067421

Pretty incredible, Garfunkel seems really unappreciated insofar as great singers.
>>
>>62067679
I agree, and he can still sing so well, even into his 70's. A few years ago he did loose it due to some medical issue, but since then his recent performances show that it's recovered very well
>>
>>62068547
^lose, not loose
>>
>>62068547

It's so depressing that Paul and Art apparently don't like each other

I keep trying to find specific reasons they split up and it just seems to be they're jealous of each other.
>>
>>62068715
>>62068547

Also idk if this is before he lost his voice or what year this is but Jesus he sounds incredible considering he's at least 60 here

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nNq3c0NVhzA
>>
>>62068715
Yeah I know.
But I don't think they specifically dislike each other as much as I think it's that they had disagreements and didn't want to be tied down to each other because of that professionally.
They have their ups and downs but through the years and more so now in their older age they've shown that they're still friends.
>>
>>62068777
Yeah I'm pretty sure that's before the voice thing, regardless its fucking impressive

love art garfunkel
>>
I really like Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel's solo stuff but I still love Simon & Garfunkel more. Not that the two like needed each other to make great music but... I think they just had a good thing going
>>
>>62069246

I heard Art's fledgling acting career caused a lot of the tension when they were still together, which is unfortunate since it was a pretty ill fated career anyway.
>>
>>62069298
Yeah I heard that too. He was only in a so many movies anyways, granted I think he's a good actor but the Simon & Garfunkel act is what he'll be remembered for. And there really could have been so much more music from them together

I know there are still 'scenes' out there like that, but I donno, everything just seems sort of disingenuous. I partly think it's because of social media

>>
>>62068547
Paul Simon still sounded quite good at the SNL 40th Anniversary.
>>
>>62072688

His voice has aged better than Art's probably but he still clearly feels like the inferior singer, when he tried to sing BOTW with Art in this vid >>62068715 you can tell he felt insecure as hell, he didn't even finish his verse.
>>
Some guys' voices hold up great - Steven Tyler, Ronnie Dio, BB King, Willie Nelson. Others like Vince Neil sound like total shit by 50.
>>
>>62072806
that actually makes me really sad
>>
>>62072908

There's definitely a whole lot of tension between them when they perform even if they do generally like each other as people, at the Central Park concert Simon was shooting eye daggers at Garfunkel the entire time
>>
>>62072908
>>62072943

Shit meant this vid, sorry >>62068777
>>
>>62072943
yeah I know it. that tension is apparent, but there's still a lot of sweet moments in that concert too. i dont remember the exact quote but an interview with art went something like "theres a lot of love here but theres also shit" when asked about the two of them. at least theyre both alive and well and still doing music, just a shame they couldnt have done more together

That's kind of like the Rolling Stones. Mick and Keith have hated each other since at least the 80s and they perform with a certain bit of grudging "Let's do this and get it over with." thing.
>>

Only just realizing how short Paul Simon is, I just thought Art Garfunkel was a giant for a while.

I like to believe they're just tense friends but I think Garfunkel seriously dislikes Simon, he basically told an interviewer that he befriended him in school because he was a manlet who got picked on, and that gesture of friendship created a monster.

Who says that about a friend?
>>
>>62075686
Idk, to this day their relationship has highs and lows, but I feel like those interviews were done during lows. Art wrote a poem for Paul that he read to him on his birthday a few years back, and it feels genuine. It's kind of long but whatev I'll just paste it here

When I said: "You'll outlast me, you live more carefully."
He said: "Write out what you want to."
Ok, it's hard to say I knew him well,
He was enigmatic to himself.
Which of us was more aware?
Which the elder?
I was born November fifth.
He on October 13th - a few weeks premature, you following me?
He was born three weeks before me, my dear,
But he was a premature baby.
Were we both conceived at the same instant?
February 5th 1941, the dead middle of winter,
In the heart of World War Two
Was I born at the right time?
For 70 years his arm has been around my shoulder,
He's dazzled me with gifts.
I nurtured him in his youth.
He brought me into prominence.
I taught him to sing.
He connected my voice to the world.
I made him tall.
All of our personal belongings are intertwined.
We say it's exhausting to compete,
But we shine for each other.
It's still our favourite game.
It goes on, this embrace, whether I speak for him or he for me:
Love ruled our lives.
It rules the mourners,
And the winter of longevity.

I'm pretty sure things have always been amicable between the two. Paul wrote 'Only Living Boy in New York' for Art, as a final goodbye to each other as Simon and Garfunkel.
