Last thread got a few replies edition

What are you listening to? Why? What do you want to explore?

If you want regional recs just ask, I might have something.
>>
trad is so tryhard

whatever, at least its not as boring as folkrock
>>
>>62057565
How is traditional music tryhard?
>>
>>62057577
you have to search for it harder than you would pop music
>>
>>62057835
But....
>>
>>62057577
You're displacing it out of its original context to listen to it just because it makes you feel/seem to yourself that you're patrician. You think you've exhausted pop/Western music, and that you're superior because you're listening to non-Western music.
It's tryhard because you assume that you've risen above Western forms of music, when in fact you probably haven't—you just missed a lot of it, kind of like how dadrockers don't know about newer rock music and just think that rock music has never been good since the 90s.

I don't know hampy, I was just memeing
What is some good Italian traditional?
>>
>>62057484
Have anything from Georgia/the Caucasus?
>>
>>62057872
Nearly 100% of music is taken out of its context. I'm not a punk in the slightest but I still enjoy listening to it. And believe it or not it's posible to listen to both western and non-western music and appreciate both.
>>
>>62057872
No actually I just listen to music from the world because it's fun to hear what it sounds like outside the westernized anglosphere.

I don't have any trve trad from Italy (yet), but here are some fun compositions for vocals and hurdy gurdy. Guy was born and died in Italy, but I'm not really sure I'd call him Italian...

Thank you so much!
>>
>>62060016
Anytime, hope you enjoy. Note that not all of it is necessarily "trad" music, but there's some art compositions there as well, if I recall correctly.
>>
>>62060032
Nice. I'm also getting interested in the Armenian and Georgian languages. Those are some of the most unique ones I've ever encountered, especially their writing system. Even though I'm from Macedonia and the Cyrillic script is my native script, I'm still amazed by their scripts.
>>
I used to browse this site a lot, although I kept running into albums I couldn't find for download
still maybe you folks might find it interesting

Skopje, Macedonia
>>
>>62060558
Oh cool. Both Georgian and Armenian are completely different language families, aren't they?
>>
>>62060639
Yeah. Both are a unique language family that is not really connected to any of the major ones. That's the most fascinating thing for me. Kind of mysterious.
>>
why is american folk superior to every other country

I'm about 95% certain you haven't actually listened to any American folk music.

>>
>>62061004
You're not even meming right. It's "why DO you wumpy"
>>
How much time do you spend listening to music each day/week (on average), and how much of that time is dedicated to /trad/, rock, classical, jazz, electronic, or other?
>>
>>62061035
about 5 hr/day, probably 90% pop music
I like pop music
>>
>>62061035
On average, maybe 10-15 hours per week, with occasional periods of much more (like 10-15 hours per day). These days, most of it (> 90%) is spent on traditional music, but I don't mind listening to other music as well.

I've always wondered why aren't there more posters in /trad/. Why is that?
>>

Because /mu/ doesn't care about /trad/ in the slightest.

this is primarily a board populated by pop/rock fans with little interest outside of that
