Look, I don't know how else to put it. Her string arrangements put me off like the worse end of Sufjan Stevens' repertoire. Her voice is ill-fiiting and although she tries to put on her best "yokel folkel, I'm from derr old cuntry" accent, it comes off as goofy and even less appropriate. Her songs have no means of justifying their length, and it's less the fact that I'm being, as you so eloquently put it:

Completely untrue. Not only do most of her longer songs consist of several contrasting sections linked by a common musical or lyrical theme, she excels at slow, gradual development as well. Take the title track of HOOM, for example, the way the melody in the middle section gradually mutates and increases in intensity as it goes along, becoming more and more angular and chromatic before it eventually transitions into the ending with the layered vocal harmonies, perfectly relieving all the tension that was built up to that point.
