More Nazi crap? You're stinking up the place.

>>62032240
My guitar teacher had me read all the notes in a piece aloud, ignoring sharps, flats and note values. So it was like, "a g f g d f a b g c f d f a."

Rhythmical articulation was treated separately but in the same way... " 1 & 2-e-&-a 3-trip-let 4 &-a."

Last basic block is knowing all the notes on the fretboard. Then you put it all together. By the time you get here, it clicks.

SXs are made in China, Agiles in Korea. You can't go wrong with either one of them, thanks to the superior Asian craftsmanship. It's true that CIA guitars are the best, but that means Crafted in Asia.

Nah, Indo imports are really 50/50 at best depending on the brand, only brand I've found them to be really bang for buck is Schecter Omens which are great modding platforms + come with in-house Schecter pups which sound aight for a cheapo. Usually a MiK guitar from World Music is gonna give you your best value for money.

How did you manage to write so much and not come up with anything even remotely relevant or real? I guess you deserve some praise for skillfully intertwining straw man, ad hominem and projection in a single pass, though.

Fine, you're a nazi sympathizer. Your agenda consists of influencing others to your way of thought. ayyyyy
I get you don't like memes, but Messer Chups is hardly "nazi". They are a RUSSIAN band that plays neo-50s SURF ROCK with some psychedelic and 50s B-movie soundtrack influences, including the usage of theremins. Their music videos are B-movie inspired too. There's hardly anything "nazi" about them. If I really wanted to trigger you hard, I'd have posted Hanzel und Gretyl instead. Pretty sure they are actual nazi sympathizers despite their claim that it's just about aesthetics. Or I could have posted some Johnny Rebel stuff, although it's shit tbqh.

Do it as slowly as you need to do it consistently right, then speed it up bit by bit.

Who Should Buy a Rondo Music Branded Guitar Guitar: In general, these guitars are great for beginners or novice players to learn on. They are all full sized (same size as a standard electric guitar or bass guitar). They stay in tune and the necks are straight. They are also good for expert players who need a guitar to “kick around with”. Something they can bring to a friend's house, and not worry about scratching, like they would with a $1000 American made guitar. In general the Brice basses and Agile guitars offer slightly improved quality and some upgraded features (such as maple quilt tops) over the SX, Douglas and Valencia models. However, the cost of these models is higher as well.

>Who Should Buy a Rondo Music Branded Guitar Guitar: In general, these guitars are great for beginners or novice players to learn on.
Just like almost any guitar. I'd rather have an affinity than a rondo though
>They stay in tune and the necks are straight.
Not always the case. Also they have had lots of problems with truss rods that ship stripped.
>They are also good for expert players who need a guitar to “kick around with”. Something they can bring to a friend's house, and not worry about scratching, like they would with a $1000 American made guitar.
An Squier is better for that.
>In general the Brice basses and Agile guitars offer slightly improved quality and some upgraded features (such as maple quilt tops) over the SX, Douglas and Valencia models. However, the cost of these models is higher as well.
You're better off with a Classic Vibe for that price range.

The only thing that is bothers me, is at the shop, they told me, "it is already setup". Later found out, the shop owner meant the Cort manufacturer's default "comes as setup" feature. To be honest, even after looking videos on youtube, I can't decide if it is setup properly or not, but the funny thing, if a professional setup cost 50$, it is half the cost of the guitar.

neck bow, saddle height and intonation are piss easy to do yourself. just go in small increments and you wont fuck shit up. remember to detune a bit before doing anything that'll stress the strings. plenty of youtube videos out there on the subject.

what you want to pay for is fret work and possibly electric stuff depending on how good you're at that. and of course, repairs.

Help guys, I mixed up my clichés. Also, I don't see a point in buying a 4-string anymore, ever. Once you get used to it a 5-string is just as easy to play and you just turn the B-string into a thumb rest if you don't need it.

It's called Son Montuno. Most of it is just major and minor chords with lots of double stops and 3rd harmonies for the leads.

My suggestion would be just to listen to a lot of it and try to figure it out by ear, it's not hard. The guitar wasn't really common so you'll have to listen to "Tres" music to see how it translates to a fretted string instrument.

Arsenio Rodriguez, Duo Los Compadres, Papi Oviedo are good starting points.

(or if you want a white boy pastiche on guitar check out Marc Ribot y Los Cubanos Postizos)

Depends-how long are you willing to practice?
It takes about 500 hours of focused, dedicated practice to become competent, and 1,000 hours of practice to start getting good and fluid.
If you only pick up your guitar every so often, it'll take years and you'll never get anywhere.
If you play for hours day after day, you'll start getting your act together after just a couple of months, and sounding really good and fluid after 6 months.

Not sure if you missed my earlier posts or not, my primary acoustic is a Larrivee D-03R. I have tried a couple of their L series and one O series as well, I love all of them, it's hard to go wrong with Larrivee. I find each series sounds relatively similar to the next in voicing, the most significant difference is obviously variations in low end due to body size. The smaller the guitar the less low end you're going to get, but I don't think you would be unsatisfied with any of them, they sound great and balanced regardless. L series and O series are certainly more comfortable to play.

90% of the sound in this track is my D-03R.

Also note that wood variations in Larrivee's make a pretty significant difference in tone. >Not sure if you missed my earlier posts or not,
sorry. pretty long thread.

have you had the opertunity to compare mahogony and rosewood L series larrivees?

how do you think they would work out for pretty subtle fingerstyle guitar?

I've heard great things about the versatility and build quality of the L series

nice dreadnought btw.
>>
>>62038528
I have compared mahogany L series to rosewood L series and I prefer rosewood for both tone and appearance, however they are significantly more expensive, at least they are where I shop. I ended up finding my dreadnought used on Craigslist for $1000, which is fantastic considering it's a Limited Edition build, 1 of 12 made with bubinga binding / inlays in Vancouver before Larrivee moved to California. If I were you I'd go for Craigslist once you decide on a model and just make sure you get a chance to try before you buy.

I find L series and OM series easier for fingerpicking than the dreadnought, they're much more forgiving in terms of positioning on your body. As for tone, I seriously doubt you'll be able to find a Larrivee of any shape or size that doesn't satisfy your ears in any picking style, besides the very occasional factory slip up they just don't make bad guitars, period.

Looking to buy a first bass and am sitting in the $400 range, I might go higher but it would have to killer deal. Would really love to get a spectrr or warwick but:

Looking at a Squire VMJ just because it's cheap and I know I'll suck. Thing is everyone says no matter what you want play it first. I don't know anyone that plays bass and I don't have an ear for tone.

How the fuck am I supposed to know what tone sounds better when I can't play shit or I don't know what sounds I'll enjoy playing? I can't trust the cunt at the store the $50 more always has better tone or some other shit according to that cunt.

what do?

>>
>>62041372
By $400 I assume bass and amp?

I'd get a Squier VM in PJ configuration (single coil and split coil) and a small combo. Both used. There's plenty of good cheap basses but plenty of bad ones too, so if you have nobody to shop for you, best to go with something safe and ubiquitous.

Good amp brands to look for; Ampeg, Eden, Peavey, Gallien-Krueger (if you're lucky) and of course Fender.

Do make sure if you buy a used bass that the neck isn't fucked and that there's no obvious damage. Any other default or quirk can probably be fixed.
>>
>>62041372
Then don't listen to the cunt. Make your own opinion. Try every one of them on a decent but not overpriced amp with flat eq and mid gain. Then you'll see for yourself. Even if you don't know how to play, just hit a note, see if it sound good to you or not. It's not all about the sound too, you gotta be confortable on the fretboard.

some luxury Gibson-like piece of furniture, at least these guys work with metals and do it in unconventional ways.
>These Features Are Found ONLY On JET Guitars::
1. The top wood is joined to a chambered body with a peaked shape. This gives JET guitars their characteristic rich, complex resonance. They weigh less than thick carved tops, too.
2. The 24th fret is a brass plate attached to the end of the fingerboard. This way you get 24 frets, without knocking the neck pickup out of its sweet spot. Why should you be forced to choose one or the other?

music man basses have thin necks. Also just to be a voice of dissent I would start on a 4 string. The 5th string is harder to play and generally very loose. I wouldn't call it a magnitude of difficulty over a 4 string but others downplay it more than they should.
>>
>>62042163
You can't really go wrong with ampeg
>>
>>62042291
I have an ampeg B2 from the 80s and it sucks ass. I'm gonna get an amp modeler to run in front of it. The preamp is underpowered even with my hottest bass.
>>
>>62041877
guitarists are generally conservative but less so now, especially since using amp sims and more advanced guitars has taken off. Strandberg and Kiesel are getting big as well.

>>62041911
They're really good at it. as much as I love PRS SEs and CEs Paul himself is a complete bullshitter

>>62042079
>gibson like
>at least SOME of this is metal!
there is nothing but wood or metal on JETs save for the pickup bobbins, considering the birdfish is still made of wood for the neck it doesn't fucking matter what ugly spaceship metal they have going on

you googling things just to argue and not owning either of these instruments is pretty dumb btw

>>62042042
>>62042163
he might have an ampeg that is tailored toward a more mellow classic sound but aside from that you're still getting a really great piece of gear

>>62042235
i recommend 5 strings mainly because I started on 4 and when I hit my teens I started listening to a music that uses that B string and hated playing 4s because of it. 4s are much more comfortable though definitely

>>62042378
The B2s were never good ;_;
>>
IMO if an amp doesn't take one bass as well as any other It's not a good amp.

It's black tho. Gonna be hard to flip, imo. The whole point is it's ultra kawaii so players can be ironic. No irony with black. (Not a suggestion but I have heard that the black ones are painted over pinks.)

Ive heard a lot about music man. I don't really like the way they look. I was eyeballing 4 string since they have thinner necks and that makes it way easier to manage.

>>62042291
If I remember correctly I think to was a $500 amp so I'm pretty pumped for that.

>>62042435
Yeah I dunno how easy it will be to adjust to a 5 from a four though so why not just jump in with a 5?

the main argument against playing 5 string is that it's harder

making it harder as you start out makes you more likely to give up

huh? 1976 stringray player here, neck is pretty fat and hardly narrow. owned 1996 and 1998 too that were the same.
>>
>>62044313
what, that changes the quality of the lessons? just don't watch the blogs. These actually are the best bass lessons online, Apart from extreme basics.
>>
>>62044327
The thin part is the nut/bridge width not the depth of the neck
>>
>>62044413
I don't know what your reference is but it's wider than a Precisionbass which is generally considered 'wide'
>>
>>62044247
Well that is a big reason to go 4 for me. But it's only $50 more for a 5 string vs buying a whole other bass to upgrade to a 5.

Fuck this is a hard choice. But thanks everyone for the input.

Count the rests and note values and tap your foot to keep time. Do the rhythm first then lyrics.

In 3/4 time, play chords G G G / G G G / E E E...

Count, "1 & 2 & 3 & / 1 & 2 & 3 & / 1 & 2 & 3 &" Strum the &s on an up stroke.

Now sing, "1 & 2 what a (&) / beau (& 2) ti ful (&) / face (& 2) I have (&)"

Just go slow and build your coordination. The actual guitar part may differ but you can fix it later.
>>
>>62044451
so I did some research and the stingray has the same but width but the pbass tapers out more.

Because he probably believes he's in competition with bigger brands in the same price range like Schecter/LTD/etc. Although considering they give better specs for the price I'm not sure why he'd do that.

Main problem is all those brands have a USA or Japanese custom/high-end shop. Chappy doesn't have that so there's really not much else to his brand name.

http://www.caparisonguitars.com/en/products/signature-series/apple-horn-8
>>
>>62046254
No idea who the guy is but iirc isn't true temperament only good for one tuning? If you plan to stick with it I guess.

I'm not hugely knowledgeable on TT frets but it'll be a quality 8 string.

>>62046213

>>
>>62046254
So what happens if you want to bend a note? What happens if you want to change string gauges? Tunings? I guess you just can't. Ill stick with my slightly flat intonation and just bend it into tune as I go up the neck.
>>
>>62045920
the chapmans are mad ein the same factory as the PRS SE models and various other brands, I know because if you check the back of a PRS headstock it tells you, that and if you watch a factory tour ou see them drying etc.

I think chappers needs a custom shop, I'm not going to lie I'd love to build guitars for chapman.
>>
>>62046695
bs, you won't bend it into tune and you know it. I think a better solution to perfect intonation is fretless. It'd be cool to see a fretless with the perfect intonated lines drawn on it like fret markers. That would make you crazy while playing it though.
>>
>>62046773

>>62046793
Its not that difficult. Just set slightly flat at the upper 5th and dig in a little when you're up above the octave.
