Because Tyler used to act edgy like that and obviously influenced his fans to act the same. But keep in mind, he was only 18/19 during that late Bastard - Goblin period. He had his slight edgy phase and then moved on.
But the problem is his fanbase hadn't... by 2012, he had already started to drift away from that image but his fanbase grew even more and those band-wagoners got worse.
Nowadays, Tyler has matured even more away from that stuff though and I would say most of his fans have too. Some copy the "happy/colorful" Tyler look but I think those people are young & immature.
