they're very, very different at heart. Innerspeaker has AMAZING live-recorded drumming that give the album that long-jam feeling. It's much more about the textures of the actual instruments, but you could at the same time argue that Lonerism shows better songwriting.
Innerspeaker is much more in tune with a 60's psychedelic jam (i mean Desire Be Desire Go sounds like the soundtrack to a swinging London dance sequence) but suffers in the middle third.
Lonerism is a bit too tight sometimes (again, for me Music To Walk Home To is a bit too poppy) but it's much more intense. Lonerism ends with an incredible emotional payoff whereas in my opinion Innerspeaker doesn't, that record is just tons of fun.

This, I've just sorta accepted the cheesy lyrics as part of the album. I don't think they feel terribly out of place, but some of them are pretty bad. I loved Currents on my first listen and I still love it after many more listens.

Jeremys storm pulls you into the feels of album (or at least pulls me)
And with runaway.... i feel like it was written on tour and expresses kevins homesickness.

i think we all knew what was coming when Kevin said "i really like pop." Kev could have brought psychedelic into the indie-mainstream but instead decided to do blow with Michael Jackson wife while jacking off the Bee Gees. Every album of his has gotten progressivly worse just like the strokes. Those old demo songs from 2007-2009 sound great
