Does anyone know of something like Spirit of Eden and Laughing Stock, but even quieter/more minimal?
The next step they'd have taken if they wanted to get even further away from their earlier sound.

this is dead on
I always thought of this as the next logical step, especially when all the layers of woodwinds break in

Not exactly minimal, but I'd also say Shearwater - Rook is spiritually influenced by the later Talk Talk stuff

Laughing Stock was also influenced by Miles Davis - In a Silent Way, highly recommend

Good call, I wouldn't have thought of it since it's a different genre but it does have a similar feel. Great album too.
Maybe go full ECM core. I don't know much about it myself, but it sounds pretty good.

Not OP, but this was great. Any information about the band?

Not really, I think he's a solo musician from Europe. Listen to his self titled album, it's really nice. I haven't heard his other stuff yet though
