Let's ignore the shitposter and try to actually talk about music.

Tamahimesama is a pretty fucking great album, however I haven't managed to get to interested in a lot of her other work. How familiar are you with YAPOOS, anything you can recommend?

I've been listening to this a lot recently, it's such a fun album.
>>
>>61982827
Yapoos is amazing. Check this album out, it's my absolute favorite. Their best effort IMO.

Yes. Yapoos are amazing. Have you heard Togawa Kaidan OP? It just came out.

Tricot for best mix of accessibility and great song writing. The occasional jazz sessions are absolutely insane as well. My favorite band as of now.

Her first two albums Japanese Girl and Iroha ni Konpeitou are more folk and a little different than that song but still really good

Gohan ga Dekita yo is where that song was from and starts her using more electronics because she started to get involved in YMO, I'd recommend just going chronologically with her first couple of albums they're all really good

Seeding the huge freeleech 15-30+ gb music shows has always been way easier. My ratio rn is 11.31. FNS, Best Artist, Music Station Super Live, Kohaku Uta Gassen etc.

Kind of missed your chance since nearly all of them happened last month, but look out for Music Station they tend to have special 2-3 hour episodes every couple months and it probably will be freeleech.

My upload speeds rarely go above 10-50kb/s and I only ever have my torrent client open when I'm downloading shit. Most all of my ratio comes from a single freeleech torrent of some memeactress.

>>61986125
Damn, I don't even use my bonus credits, just leave them to rot. Plus I rarely download full torrents which I think means it doesn't count towards your credits.

And if I had the space to have 500GB of porn I'd probably blow it all on 4k impulse downloads and other videos I'd never watch.

They got a ton of porn deleted from sadpanda and now is trying to sell them on their site for $30
>>
>>61986543
Fakku is a hentai site that went "legit" and started publishing hentai for a price, which resulted in them forcing exhentai to take down all the stuff that they were selling. This caused a monthlong shitstorm on /a/ and the collective suicides of countless weeaboo neets whose corpses are probably still undiscovered. It was like the holocaust but with hentai and it actually happened.

So I have to ask, because I find a lot of Japanese stuff incredibly difficult to find torrents or even CDs of online most of the time: how should I go about getting hold of all this? I used to not really give a shit, but I've started trying to organize my music collection as much as possible now.

I go for the original kanji, and then either the romaji or english translation (as long as it's not a Google Translation) in parenthesis, mainly so I have at least some semblance of which track I'm listening to.

Most people know ymo only for solid state survivor (or at least naughty boys), but I've tried and tried to stress how amazing the trio's solo careers and production efforts compares to today's electronic pop music. At least hosono and Sakamoto's careers.

Good to see hosono getting love these days, especially philharmony.

last album i heard from her was love again. anyway i think she deserves a lot of commendation since she was a manufactured idol, but chose to go against the grain by writing nearly all of her lyrics as well as composing and even arranging some of her work. added bonus that quite a few of those songs just happen to be really good

which albums of hers do you like? duty belongs in a museum

Favorite album? I burned Aratamemashite and Shinsekai to a single CD and I think the latter wins by a hair on most days. I listen to both constantly though.

recently, more appeared of her online. this session is good: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30A6watN2wA

she soundtracked this stage play:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w91peIdX_7U

and today's the first time i've seen this very quiet video of her playing at the top of a tree:

I've been listening to a comp of jpop idol artists that had singles or songs written by Yellow Magic Orchestra. It's really good. I'll upload it in the current general sharethread. It's also for freeleech on jps.

https://youtu.be/A4yCIu0oobI

Hosono wrote this song:
https://youtu.be/CoyDSkj27dw
>>
>>61982827
I like Hosono but not his albums really. I think this one really meanders, and not much of it seems fully realized. Of course, Sportsman is amazing, and by far the most interesting/catchy/danceable thing on that album. Second being Living-Dining-Kitchen I suppose.
>>
>>61997614
You probably won't like his later works then, when he delves more into ambient in the late 80s/90s until he comes full circle back as a country/folk R&B artist in the late 00s.

But pretty much everything I've heard on "Philharmony" is remarkable how much it stands against today's electronic music like Fennesz, Autechre, OPN and even pop acts like Grimes. The fact that Hosono, a bass player with limited keyboard virtuosity, is able to assemble and mix these sounds and timbre into these dense miniatures of songs and pieces from "Sports Men" to "Happy Birthday" really makes you listen deeper to YMO songs and feel for who was really taking creative reigns on their individual songs on their albums.

Have it in the libra, but havent given it a fair shake yet - the concept is pretty cool tho

and FYI, she recently put out this alternate mix of Less than lovers, more than friends (its a live from 2000, but she did some extra production on it) - really loving it

Love Takako Minekawa too
apparently working on a new album with Dustin Wong (and they had a live show last summer with fucking Haco - life is total suffering)
Anyways, I do think her solo work is stronger than what she's put out with WOng, but they've also had some fantastic songs so who knows, maybe they hit the money with the next album?
