/trad/ general - no one cares edition
What are you listening to? What's the best trad you've heard recently? Which country's musical artistic legacy was the most ruined by colonialism?
I WILL bump this.
Akhtar Hussein - Tabla
Geinoh Yamashirogumi - Chi no hibiki
St ephraim male choir - Orientale Lumen II
I don't listen to enough trad. Have a big backlog to look into, but I still wouldn't mind recs, especially ambitious raga performances :>>
I've decided to make a spreadsheet to track where I have not heard anything from yet, and maybe make an epic le chart once it's finished.

I could recommend a few things later when I feel like taking a break from the spreadsheet.
I like christy moore
bumpeti

Here we go. Please recommend recordings from empty rows.
(holy shit it looks terrible after exporting from Illustrator)
listening to this a few times lately, first time listening to carnatic music aside from a couple songs. I really dig it.
Im from Quebec, Canada, and we have a long cultural history in french trad music. But nobody gives a shit anymore, except foreigners and sugar shacks.
But in this trad world, there's one band you need to know and its "La Bottine Souriante". These guys blow my mind with their mix of Trad celtic french music and Jazz Ensemble.
Go listen to their Live Album "En Spectacle". Its amazing.

I'll download it.

Hey hampus, that Netherlands one is incorrect, Vlaanderen is the Dutch speaking part of Belgium, so it's from there
>>61957377
Also why don't you split UK? Wales should for example have some quite different stuff in Welsh right?

Thanks
>>61957623
The same could be said about literally every country
>>61957377
>modern but inspired by traditional
Literally why?
>>61959509
Because I haven't found anything better yet, probably.

Listening to mohammad hussain sarahang atm. It's nice so far.

I'd like something more instrumental, though. Not huge on indian singing. Doesn't have to be strictly traditional.
Wish more recordings from Myanmar/Cambodia had survived 2bh

What's with those outfits?
what's some good emotional traditional music? I would love to explore this stuff, ive never taken the opportunity to really dive into it though, just some stuff here and there
