I have seen several "djent" and deathcore bands with this exact generic sound and play style and they fumble hard when playing live, which imo is the point behind a lot of music.

Got up early (well, early for me), and I FINALLY got to listening to all those metal recs you guys gave me back in... October?
So far, Queensryche, Dark Quarterer, and Bathory bombed HARD with me. Those fucking vocals, man. I mean the music's nothing amazing anyway, and then you combine that with the cheese and Bruce Dickinson faux-operatic vocals cranked up to 11, I couldn't take it. I soldiered through it and listened to the albums recommended to me to the end, though. Sacred Blade? So far, not terrible, but maybe that's because it's better than the first three I listened to in comparison. Lyrics and vocals still suck (still warbling), but the guitars are better, more texture. That Salem track in particular was painful, it was like Bruce Dickinson and Brian Johnson combined.
